Wade <\/i>ruling, but members of the party were quick to voice their outrage and pledge action. <\/p>\n<div class=\"Enhancement\">\n<div class=\"Enhancement-item\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe are going to double down on the effort to make sure that the legal rights of all Americans, women to access the care that they\u2019re entitled to continues forward,\u201d Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra told Senate Appropriations Committee members. <\/p>\n<p><b><u><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/fda-limits-j-j-covid-19-vaccine-authorization-due-to-blood-clot-risk\">FDA LIMITS J&#038;J COVID-19 VACCINE AUTHORIZATION DUE TO BLOOD CLOT RISK<\/a><\/u><\/b> <\/p>\n<p>President Joe Biden, who is now caught in the crosshairs of the progressive wing of his party, called the draft leak a \u201cradical decision\u201d that could imperil other rights established in previous Supreme Court rulings, such as the right to <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/restoring-america\/fairness-justice\/suddenly-biden-agrees-with-alito\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">contraception and marriage equality<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf what is written is what remains, it goes far beyond the concern of whether or not there is the right to choose. It goes to other basic rights: the right to marry, the right to determine a whole range of things,\u201d Biden said. <\/p>\n<p>House Speaker Nancy Pelosi <u><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SpeakerPelosi\/status\/1521935257506877445\">sounded the same alarm<\/a><\/u> earlier this week in Seattle, saying, \u201cThis is an assault on privacy. Who knows what&#8217;s next \u2026 marriage equality? There&#8217;s so many things that are rooted in privacy in the Constitution that they could go after now.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Senate Majority Leader <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/chuck-schumer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chuck Schumer<\/a> (D-NY) will force a vote on legislation that would codify abortion rights into federal law Wednesday, when it is sure to fail due to the requisite 60-vote threshold. The vote is little more than a political message ahead of the final decision from the court and <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/midterms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">midterm elections<\/a> in November. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will vote to protect a woman&#8217;s right to choose, and every American is going to see on which side every senator stands,\u201d Schumer said. <\/p>\n<p>Schumer is teeing up a vote on the <u><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/house-bill\/3755\/text\">Women\u2019s Health Production Act<\/a><\/u>, which would create a statutory right to the procedure without restrictions and hoops for women to jump through, such as multiple doctor visits prior to the procedure, mandatory ultrasounds, and waiting periods. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Susan Collins (R-ME), who object to the lack of protections in the bill for healthcare providers who refuse to perform the procedure on religious grounds.
