Wade<\/em> and\u00a0<em> Planned Parenthood v. Casey<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Referencing the leak \u2014 which immediately sparked outrage from Democratic elected officials and multiple protests from pro-abortion groups \u2014 Thomas noted, \u201cWe are becoming addicted to wanting particular outcomes, not living with the outcomes we don\u2019t like.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can\u2019t be an institution that can be bullied into giving you just the outcomes you want. The events from earlier this week are a symptom of that,\u201d Thomas continued.<\/p>\n<p>Since the draft was made public, protesters have gathered outside the Supreme Court and <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/psaki-says-there-is-no-official-u-s-government-position-on-activists-protesting-outside-scotus-justices-homes\/\">outside the homes<\/a> of individual justices.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Democratic Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) \u2014 among others \u2014 have issued <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/i-am-angry-elizabeth-warren-loses-it-over-leaked-supreme-court-draft-axing-roe\/\">renewed calls<\/a> to codify\u00a0<em>Roe<\/em> and pass legislation that would institute a federal right to abortion. Attempts to do so may be <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/oops-scotus-draft-leak-may-drive-more-republicans-to-voting-booths-poll-says\/\">doomed to fail<\/a> in a 50\/50 Senate, however, as Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) has already stated that he would not compromise the filibuster in order to secure abortion rights.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), who has introduced her own bill to codify abortion rights alongside Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), has also said she would not support the Democrats\u2019 bill because it was \u201ctoo broad\u201d and did not allow exceptions for Catholic hospitals on religious grounds.<\/p>\n<p>Still others, like Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) have <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EdMarkey\/status\/1522556732156919808\">argued<\/a> that the leaked draft only provides it is time for President Joe Biden to expand the court. \u201c<span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">We must abolish the filibuster, codify Roe v. Wade, and move urgently to expand the <\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-b88u0q r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">Court<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\"> so that we forever protect the constitutional right to abortion,\u201d he said, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EdMarkey\/status\/1522260080187658240\">adding<\/a>, \u201cRepublicans made up their mind a long time ago: they would do whatever it takes to destroy <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>. We must expand the Court to protect it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Critics of the leak \u2014 including Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/shapiro-draft-supreme-court-majority-opinion-leaks-striking-down-roe-v-wade-heres-what-all-of-that-means\/\">spoke out immediately<\/a>, saying that no matter which side had been responsible, it was a clear attempt to coerce the court to either stand firm in the early decision or to change their opinion in the face of public outcry.<\/p>\n<p>The early opinion draft, which was written by Justice Samuel Alito and published Monday by Politico, may or may not reflect the Supreme Court\u2019s final decision on the matter.
