Greg Murphy introduced legislation Friday that would ban President Joe Biden from canceling student loan debt, something the administration is reportedly considering.<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Caller first obtained the legislation, titled the Stop Reckless Student Loan Actions Act. The bill was co-sponsored by South Dakota Rep. Dusty Johnson and Wisconsin Rep. Mike Gallagher. The legislation would ban the president from canceling student loan debt, limit how long the president can suspend student debt payments, and increase congressional authority and oversight over the process.<\/p>\n<p>The Biden administration is reportedly looking to take executive action to forgive $10,000 per borrower, or maybe even more. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/04\/28\/biden-says-hes-not-considering-50000-in-student-loan-forgiveness-.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">According to<\/a> CNBC, the move would clear\u00a0$321 billion of federal student loans and clear the student debt for almost 12 million people. However, Republicans say\u00a0canceling student debt would just put the responsibility on hardworking, taxpaying Americans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Biden often trumpets the line of wanting high-income Americans to \u2018pay their fair share\u2019,\u201d Rep. John Thune <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thune.senate.gov\/public\/index.cfm\/press-releases?ID=E2537855-FF90-402C-834F-32968A3C22AB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">introduced<\/a> a bill in the Senate to try to prevent the Biden administration from canceling student debt.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Republican North Carolina Rep.
