Bush, briefly referenced the past week of protests in Washington and across the nation over the leaked draft majority opinion during the 11th Circuit Judicial Conference on Friday.<\/p>\n<div class=\"Enhancement\">\n<div class=\"Enhancement-item\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;We can&#8217;t be an institution that can be bullied into giving you just the outcomes you want. The events from earlier this week are a symptom of that,&#8221; Thomas said amid public protests, including some outside the Supreme Court, by abortion activists concerned over the upheaval of <i>Roe v. Wade <\/i>and <i>Planned Parenthood v. Casey.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b><u><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice-alito-the-face-of-looming-supreme-court-anti-abortion-decision\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">JUSTICE ALITO THE FACE OF LOOMING SUPREME COURT ANTI-ABORTION DECISION<\/a><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n<p>The leaked draft, authored by Justice <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/samuel-alito\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Samuel Alito<\/a>, ignited calls this week to codify <i>Roe <\/i>into law. Some liberal lawmakers, such as Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), are escalating their push to <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/aoc-and-fellow-squad-members-call-for-expanding-the-court-after-barrett-confirmation\">expand the number of<\/a> justices on the nine-member court.<\/p>\n<p>As a society, &#8220;we are becoming addicted to wanting particular outcomes, not living with the outcomes we don&#8217;t like,&#8221; Thomas said during a Q&#038;A session at the Atlanta-based event.<\/p>\n<p>Since the leak on May 2, the Supreme Court has verified the authenticity of the draft report but has stated it is not a final rendition of the looming opinion. If the final ruling for <i><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/dobbs-v-jackson-womens-health-organization\">Dobbs. v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization<\/a><\/i> is unaltered, it would uphold a Mississippi law banning abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy and overturn the landmark 1973 <i>Roe<\/i> decision that made abortion procedures legal throughout the nation.<\/p>\n<p>A pro-abortion rights protest group that claims to carry on the legacy of the late Supreme Court Justice <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/ruth-bader-ginsburg\">Ruth Bader Ginsburg<\/a> said it would fund <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/protests\">protesters<\/a> to participate in demonstrations next week outside the homes of the six Republican-appointed justices in response to the court&#8217;s expected ruling to overturn <i>Roe<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Tall security fences and <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/dcist.com\/story\/22\/05\/06\/supreme-court-fencing-security\/\">concert barriers<\/a> have been placed around the Supreme Court since the leak. Alito <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/courts\/alito-scraps-public-appearance-after-leak-of-supreme-court-opinion-on-abortion\">canceled an appearance<\/a> at a similar event.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas has long been a vocal opponent of the precedent set by <i>Roe <\/i>and even called for its overturning during arguments over <i>Casey <\/i>in 1992.
