Marjorie Taylor Greene engaged in insurrection, making her ineligible to run for re-election in the November midterms.<\/p>\n<p>Free Speech for People, a left-wing advocacy group, filed a lawsuit on behalf of five Georgia voters in March. They <a href=\"https:\/\/freespeechforpeople.org\/georgia-voters-challenge-rep-marjorie-taylor-greenes-candidacy-for-re-election-under-fourteenth-amendments-insurrectionist-disqualification-clause\/\">claimed<\/a> that a provision of the 14th Amendment intended to prevent members of the Confederacy from holding elected office also applied to Greene, based on reports that she was involved with the planning of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. However, Administrative Law Judge Charles Beaudrot ruled Friday that Free Speech for People failed to prove Greene\u2019s involvement in the riot.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhatever the exact parameters of the meaning of \u2018engage\u2019 as used in the 14th Amendment, and assuming for these purposes that the Invasion was an insurrection, Challengers have produced insufficient evidence to show that Rep. Greene \u2018engaged\u2019 in that insurrection after she took the oath of office on January 3, 2021,\u201d he wrote, <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/2022-midterm-elections-georgia-marjorie-taylor-greene-congress-1a3adca947abd4af6ae8a2f5e0cc901a?utm_source=Twitter&#038;utm_medium=AP&#038;utm_campaign=SocialFlow\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according<\/a> to the Associated Press.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">A judge in Georgia has found that U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene can run for reelection, rejecting arguments from a group of voters who had challenged her eligibility over allegations that she engaged in insurrection. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/PCLQTGXBsR\">https:\/\/t.co\/PCLQTGXBsR<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The Associated Press (@AP) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AP\/status\/1522645740929048577?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 6, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Greene had requested a preliminary injunction to prevent the case from going to trial, but a federal judge <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/19\/judge-approves-effort-remove-marjorie-taylor-greene-ballot\/\">rejected<\/a> her motion. During the trial, Greene <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/9i13uHcIiEA?t=15572\">testified<\/a> that she never called for violence, and that her invocation of the year 1776 was not a call for revolution. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/28\/liar-marjorie-taylor-green-jim-acosta-shouting-match-text-messages\/\">(RELATED: \u2018You\u2019re A Liar\u2019: Rep. His ruling is not binding on Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, who is ultimately responsible for determining whether or not Greene may seek re-election. Georgia will hold <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncsl.org\/research\/elections-and-campaigns\/2022-state-primary-election-dates-and-filing-deadlines.aspx\">primary<\/a> elections on May 24, and Greene has five Republican <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Marjorie_Taylor_Greene\">challengers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Free Speech for People has filed similar legal challenges against Republican Reps. Madison Cawthorn of North Carolina, and Paul Gosar and Andy Biggs of Arizona. The Cawthorn challenge was <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/04\/judge-blocks-ballot-run-cawthorn-north-carolina-free-speech-for-people\/\">thrown<\/a> out of court on March 4, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azmirror.com\/blog\/group-aims-to-disqualify-biggs-gosar-and-finchem-from-ballot-for-capitol-insurrection\/\">challenges<\/a> to Gosar and Biggs are ongoing. The Indiana Election Commission unanimously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpta21.com\/2022\/02\/18\/state-commission-rejects-challenge-rep-banks-who-will-remain-ballot\/\">rejected<\/a> a similar lawsuit filed against Republican Indiana Rep.
