Several states, including Arizona and Pennsylvania, are no longer being acknowledged as winnable by the DLCC despite previously being key targets.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\ud83d\udce2Big news\ud83d\udce2 We just released our <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/PathToMajority?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#PathToMajority<\/a> priority states for the 2022 elections!<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re focused on:<br \/>\ud83d\udc99Defending our Dem majorities<br \/>\ud83c\udf0aMaking a play for vulnerable GOP majorities<br \/>\ud83d\udc18Chipping away at states with big GOP advantages<\/p>\n<p>Check out our plan:<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/7qI7yHDDJ3\">https:\/\/t.co\/7qI7yHDDJ3<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (@DLCC) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DLCC\/status\/1522220781719199744?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 5, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Arizona, Pennsylvania and Georgia are listed in the new memo as states where the DLCC will seek to succeed at \u201cReversing Republicans\u2019 Structural Advantage,\u201d rather than actually win majorities in the legislature. \u201cRedistricting realities, the political environment, and current legislative margins make these chambers more challenging \u2014 but make no mistake, they\u2019re competitive.\u201d the memo reads. \u201cWe\u2019re investing to gain ground and if any of these chambers appear more competitive later in the cycle, we\u2019ll make a play for the majority.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Making a play for the majority was previously on the table in some of these states, though. In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2021\/03\/16\/democrats-2022-elections-476211\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">March 2021 strategy memo<\/a>, the DLCC said Democrats are \u201con the cusp of a legislative majority\u201d in both chambers in Arizona, and that same memo called the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/03\/trump-backed-candidates-win-big-ohio-primaries\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">GOP<\/a> majorities in Pennsylvania \u201cextremely vulnerable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe that GOP majorities in states where we will get new maps like Arizona, Michigan, and Pennsylvania are extremely vulnerable,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/f\/?id=00000178-38e6-dd22-a17a-fdf6c6460000\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according to<\/a> the memo.<\/p>\n<p>Now, with polling showing Democrats facing an uphill climb in this year\u2019s elections, expectations are being lowered. In 2021, DLCC president Jessica Post said <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/03\/jd-vance-wins-ohio-senate-primary-tim-ryan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2022<\/a> could be a positive environment for the party: \u201cImagine as we get folks vaccinated, people can travel and see their grandchildren. I think that\u2019s going to create a great environment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the latest memo, the DLCC cites the \u201cpolitical environment\u201d as a reason it likely won\u2019t be able to make a play for the majority in states like Pennsylvania, Arizona and Georgia. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/29\/steny-hoyer-nancy-pelosi-endorsements-maryland-governor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Hoyer, Pelosi Endorse Two Different Candidates In MD Gubernatorial Race)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/27\/house-democrat-kim-schrier-slams-joe-biden-border-handling-supporting-policies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Democrats<\/a> are also expecting fierce battles to defend their majorities in some solidly blue states.
