Does he support any limits on abortion right now?\u201d Doocy asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeter, the President has \u2026 talked about his position many times,\u201d Psaki replied. \u201cHe supports the right of a woman to make choices about her own body with her doctor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I know that one of the Democrats that he endorsed and who won their primary this week, Tim Ryan, said yesterday that he does not support any limits on abortion,\u201d Doocy pressed. \u201cIs that where the President\u2019s thinking is now?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe President has stated his view many times,\u201d Psaki repeated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo does the President support abortion up until the moment of birth?\u201d Doocy asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe President has spoken about this many times, Peter,\u201d Psaki said for a third time. \u201cAnd I would refer you to his own comments about abortion and a woman\u2019s right to choose and make decisions about her body with her doctor, which is what any of those women would do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As Doocy noted, President Biden has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/flashback-senator-joe-biden-supported-a-constitutional-amendment-to-allow-states-to-overturn-roe-v-wade\">pivoted<\/a> on the issue of abortion during his decades in national politics. In December 1981, Biden \u2014 then a member of the United States Senate from Delaware \u2014 proposed a constitutional amendment that would have allowed individual states to overturn <i>Roe v. Wade<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>During his 2020 presidential campaign, however, Biden ran on the <a href=\"https:\/\/joebiden.com\/healthcare\/\">platform<\/a> of codifying <i>Roe <\/i>into federal law. After Justice Samuel Alito\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-supreme-court-strikes-down-roe-v-wade-decision-in-draft-of-majority-opinion-report-says\">draft opinion<\/a> in the case of <i>Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization<\/i> was leaked to Politico, confirming that the Supreme Court is poised to overturn <i>Roe<\/i>, Biden issued a statement calling on \u201cour nation\u2019s elected officials at all levels of government to protect a woman\u2019s right to choose.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the federal level, we will need more pro-choice Senators and a pro-choice majority in the House to adopt legislation that codifies <i>Roe<\/i>, which I will work to pass and sign into law,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>Other Democrats are echoing Biden\u2019s position. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said Thursday that Senate Democrats were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/schumer-senate-democrats-will-force-a-vote-on-abortion-law-next-week\">planning<\/a> to force a vote on the Women\u2019s Health Protection Act, which would codify <i>Roe. <\/i>The legislation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/senate-rejects-democrats-attempt-to-gut-state-pro-life-laws\">failed<\/a> by a 46 to 48 margin as recently as February, however.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, state lawmakers are approving bills that would ban abortion.
