That raises, in my mind, lots of judgments about his priorities,\u201d Pompeo said in a phone call to reporters. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/05\/mehmet-oz-turkish-airlines-foreign-agents-registration-act\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Dr. Oz\u2019s Work For Turkish Airlines May Violate Federal Lobbying Law, Advocacy Group Claims)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Oz maintains Turkish citizenship and cast a ballot in the country\u2019s 2018 presidential election, ABC News <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/dr-ozs-vote-2018-turkish-election-renews-criticism\/story?id=84326742\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>. He had previously said he has \u201cnever been politically involved in Turkey in any capacity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pompeo, who is backing David McCormick, former U.S. under secretary of the Treasury for International Affairs and CEO of Bridgewater Associates, said his reservations with Oz were \u201cseparate and apart from politics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese are pathetic and xenophobic attacks on Dr. Oz by David McCormick, who should be ashamed of himself. Now that he lost President Trump\u2019s endorsement, he\u2019s resorted to sad and desperate attacks that are no different than the tropes used against Catholics and Jews,\u201d Brittany Yanick, an Oz campaign spokesperson, told the Daily Caller News Foundation in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDr. Oz has already said when elected to the Senate he would renounce his citizenship. There is no security issue whatsoever, and David McCormick knows that Dr. Oz has maintained his dual citizenship to make it easier to help care for his mother who has Alzheimer\u2019s and lives there,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Mike Pompeo, on a call with reporters organized by the McCormick campaign, cited ABC News\u2019 reporting: \u201c[Dr. Oz] engaged in the Turkish political process. That raises, in my mind, lots of judgments about his priorities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Lucien Bruggeman (@lcbruggeman) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/lcbruggeman\/status\/1522575697272877057?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 6, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is about making sure that the voters have the opportunity to know all of the things, the good characteristics and the shortcomings, of candidates who are running, and the questions in my judgment have not been answered satisfactorily,\u201d Pompeo said.<\/p>\n<p>Former President Donald Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/09\/donald-trump-endorses-mehmet-oz-pennsylvania-senate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">endorsed Oz<\/a> in April, calling the former talk show host \u201cbrilliant and well-known.\u201d Oz received a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/26\/donald-trump-jd-vance-mehmet-oz-nancy-mace\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">bump in the polls<\/a> after the endorsement, but the race remains tight.<\/p>\n<p>Some conservatives have <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/13\/laura-ingraham-trump-hannity-endorsement-dr-oz-mistake\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">stated concerns<\/a> that Oz does not truly represent the GOP\u2019s values, claiming he has previously expressed beliefs contrary to the party\u2019s.
