Wilhoite declared his candidacy in February, just weeks before he is accused of murdering his wife, who had just finished chemotherapy, according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities were alerted March 25 that Wilhoite\u2019s wife, Elizabeth \u201cNikki,\u201d was missing, according to the report. They questioned Wilhoite, who initially claimed he and Nikki had fought the previous night and Nikki was likely at her sister\u2019s house, Fox 29 reported. Police then discovered blood in the master bedroom and bathroom, as well as learned that Nikki had filed for divorce just days prior, according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>Wilhoite allegedly confessed to police that he fatally struck Nikki in the face with a gallon-sized cement flower pot before dumping her body in a creek, according to Fox 29.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Andrew Wilhoite is facing murder charges after he told deputies he dumped his wife\u2019s body in a creek her after striking her with a flower pot during a fight.<\/p>\n<p>Despite that, he just won a GOP primary in Indiana \ud83d\uddf3\ufe0f<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/0vGbRMDFnI\">https:\/\/t.co\/0vGbRMDFnI<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 7News DC (@7NewsDC) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/7NewsDC\/status\/1522365526735003649?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 6, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Friends said Nikki was trying to leave the relationship for years and had been in danger, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wthr.com\/article\/news\/crime\/lebanon-man-charged-with-wifes-murder-wins-republican-primary-for-town-board-andrew-wilhoite-nikki\/531-5771d0a7-23e0-48f9-800c-29c9f92ad583\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">WTHR<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If Wilhoite is convicted of a felony or withdraws his candidacy, then he will not be on the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/2022-midterm-elections-lebanon-indiana-primary-75a8401054cd529a285524a09f4a5953\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ballot<\/a> in the upcoming general election.
