There is no operational reason to take this responsibility from largely non-political operating components and move this mission to the Secretary\u2019s office filled with political appointees, including a politically charged individual with no government experience. The move represents a further politicization of the Department under this administration,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mayorkas <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/national-security\/3477628-mayorkas-clarifies-role-of-new-dhs-disinformation-board\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a> the board, which he first mentioned April 27 in a Senate hearing, wants to \u201cdevelop guidelines, standards, guardrails to ensure that the work that has been ongoing for nearly 10 years does not infringe on people\u2019s free speech rights, rights of privacy, civil rights and civil liberties.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Former Deputy DHS Secretary Ken Cuccinelli told the Daily Caller that the board \u201cis an entirely new creation of their own making,\u201d calling it the \u201cMinistry of Truth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The newly appointed leader of the board, Nina Jankowicz, has also received criticism for pushing <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/04\/mayorkas-jankowicz-hunter-biden-laptop-story\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">disinformation<\/a> about Hunter Biden\u2019s laptop.<\/p>\n<p>Mayorkas and Psaki have defended Jankowicz, calling her an \u201cexpert\u201d in disinformation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Department needs to provide the American people transparency as to what the Board is and was planning to do, and why the Department chose to put on an overtly partisan individual in charge who could easily be accused of spreading disinformation herself prior to her government service,\u201d Wolf added.<\/p>\n<p>Wolf said the DHS has a \u201csevere credibility problem\u201d with \u201cdisinformation\u201d and there was a \u201creason\u201d as to why the Biden administration kept the board so quiet for months before announcing it.<\/p>\n<p>House Republicans introduced legislation Tuesday that would <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/03\/house-republicans-mike-johnson-legislation-bill-defund-biden-dhs-disinformation-board-nina-jankowicz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">defund<\/a> the disinformation governance board. Several Republican\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=GGLsceURTrM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">senators<\/a> have also questioned Mayorkas, exposing that he did not know about Jankowicz\u2019s TikTok videos, nor her claims about Hunter Biden\u2019s laptop before she was appointed.<\/p>\n<p>Ries said Democrats have already demonstrated that the board will not be operated well, given that they\u2019ve \u201cfumbled the roll out.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/03\/mayorkas-congress-dhs-mayorkas-jankowicz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>(RELATED: \u2018<span class=\"il\">Half<\/span>\u2013<span class=\"il\">Baked<\/span>\u2018: DHS Admitted Some Stunning Details About Its \u2018Disinformation\u2019 Board To Congress)<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cMore important, we have lived through 2020 during which the left regularly censored truthful content, labeling it \u2018misinformation,\u2019 and the left\u2019s disinformation effort in 2016 and onward to push the Trump dossier Russia hoax. The left has lost America\u2019s trust,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Cuccinelli agreed that there is \u201cno way\u201d the board will be handled \u201cwell\u201d by Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo way. And No Way, assuming \u2018well\u2019 would have any or some objective connection to truth rather than preferred partisan narratives, see, e.g., Steele dossier, Russian collusion, Hunter Biden laptop, etc., etc., etc\u2026,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The board should \u201cabsolutely\u201d alarm Americans, Ries continued, mentioning that the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/04\/cdc-phone-data-tracking-location-covid-coronavirus-lockdown-quarantine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CDC tracked<\/a> over 20 million phones during the COVID-19 pandemic and that Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/04\/biden-maga-supporters-extreme-political-organization-recent-american-history\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">called<\/a> MAGA \u201cthe most extreme political organization that\u2019s existed in American history.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen Sec.
