Republicans, on the other hand, increased their turnout by 28%, securing 230,000 more votes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wouldn\u2019t base projections for the midterm off of the primary, but \u2026 if you\u2019re looking for signs of Republican enthusiasm and a lack of Democratic enthusiasm, then you probably could point to the Ohio primary results,\u201d Kyle Kondik, managing editor of election forecaster Sabato\u2019s Crystal Ball, told the Daily Caller News Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans had a far more <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/02\/ohio-primary-jd-vance-josh-mandel-mike-dewine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">competitive<\/a> Senate primary than Democrats in Ohio, with polling showing multiple different conservatives in the lead in the weeks prior to election day. Democratic Rep. The GOP had a 17-point enthusiasm advantage over Democrats in an NBC News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/meet-the-press\/midterm-environment-looks-2010-2018-nbc-news-poll-rcna21795\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">poll<\/a> released in March, up from the 11-point <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/21096128-210292-nbc-news-october-poll-10-31-21-release\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">advantage<\/a> it had in October.<\/p>\n<p>The March primary in Texas had Democrats increasing their turnout by 4%, but Republicans increased their turnout by 27%. Five counties along the U.S.-Mexico border, which have large percentages of <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/06\/gop-hispanic-female-candidates-texas-midterms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Latino voters<\/a>, showed a turnout increase of 25% in the Republican primary.<\/p>\n<p>All of former President Donald Trump\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/27\/jd-vances-donald-trump-lead-poll\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">endorsements<\/a> in the Texas, Ohio and Indiana primaries have moved on to the general election with the exception of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who will face a <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Texas_Attorney_General_election,_2022\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">runoff<\/a> on May 24, Politico <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2022\/05\/04\/trump-backed-candidates-that-won-ohio-indiana-primaries-00029645\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think his endorsement is valuable,\u201d Kondik told the DCNF while adding that Trump\u2019s record is likely to become more inconsistent as the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/29\/pivotal-primary-races-2022-midterms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">primaries continue<\/a>. \u201cAnd I think Republicans believe it\u2019s valuable, so they\u2019ll continue to seek it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience.
