My friends broke his arm. I felt good. How bad does a n***** have to be that Jon Stewart would stomp him?\u201d as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-10786365\/Dave-Chappelle-thanks-friends-breaking-attackers-arm.html\">audio<\/a> obtained by The Daily Mail revealed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKilling that n***** would have been stupid,\u201d he added later.<\/p>\n<p>At the time Lee attacked Chappelle, the comedian was thanking Chris Rock, Leslie Jones and Jon Stewart, who had appeared on stage with him. Chappelle\u2019s joke about Stewart may have been apocryphal; it is unknown whether Stewart had a hand in subduing the attacker.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, Chappelle released a <a href=\"denied:applewebdata:\/\/3e55a9bb-1548-4a97-a477-3e2f1f77c2fe\/v\">statement<\/a> about the attack, saying:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>Dave Chappelle celebrated four nights of comedy and music, setting record-breaking sales for a comedian at the Hollywood Bowl. This run ties Chappelle with Monty Python for the most headlined shows by any comedian at the Hollywood Bowl, reaching 70k fans of diverse backgrounds during the first\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/netflix-is-a-joke\/\">Netflix Is A Joke<\/a>: The Festival, and he refuses to allow last night\u2019s incident to overshadow the magic of this historic moment.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The statement continued:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>As unfortunate and unsettling as the incident was, Chappelle went on with the show. Jamie Foxx and Chris Rock helped calm the crowd with humor before Chappelle introduced the last and featured musical guests for the evening, hip-hop artists yasiin bey and Talib Kweli, a.k.a. Black Star, who performed music from their new album \u2013 the first in nearly 24 years \u2013 which was released on Luminary. Other special comedic guests last night included Earthquake, Leslie Jones, Jeff Ross, Sebastian, Jon Stewart and Michelle Wolf.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>After the curtain call of his show at the Bowl, Chappelle said to Jamie Foxx, who joined him on stage, \u201cShout out to Jamie Foxx by the way,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-10781055\/Dave-Chappelle-attacked-stage-LA.html\">The Daily Mail<\/a>\u00a0reported. \u201cWhenever you\u2019re in trouble, Jamie Foxx will show up in a sheriff\u2019s hat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought that was part of the show, I didn\u2019t know what the f***,\u201d Foxx replied.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI grabbed the back of that n**** head. His hair was spongy. Absorbent,\u201d Chappelle joked.<\/p>\n<p>Foxx then saluted Chappelle: \u201cListen, I just want to say, this man is an absolute genius. We\u2019ve got to make sure we protect him at all times. \u2026 For every comedian who comes out here, this means everything. You\u2019re a genius. You\u2019re a legend, I enjoyed myself thoroughly, and we\u2019re not going to let nothing happen to you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been doing this for 35 years,\u201d Chappelle noted, then joked, \u201cI just stomped a n**** backstage.
