Biden took issue with Republicans who support the end of<em> Roe v. Wade. <\/em>If you support the idea that legal abortion should be sent back to the states, you\u2019re a radical, in Biden\u2019s mind.<\/p>\n<p>As numerous outlets and politicians have pointed out, Biden\u2019s remark was befuddling for a number of reasons, chief among them leftist extremism as well Biden\u2019s past opposition to <em>Roe<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday evening, The New York Post <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/05\/04\/joe-bidens-most-extreme-maga-malarkey\/\">wrote<\/a> a scathing editorial, blasting Biden\u2019s legal misunderstanding of the potential legal ramifications of <em>Roe<\/em> being overturned based on the leaked opinion draft written by Justice Samuel Alito<em>. <\/em>During his comments, Biden wondered aloud whether or not red states will begin filing proposed laws that would ban LGBT children from classrooms. But that isn\u2019t even remotely on the table, nor would the end of <em>Roe<\/em> allow for that. The Post pointed out to the president that \u201cthe leaked draft opinion takes great pains to explain why Roe is unique, its reversal is no reason to expect a similar undoing of the gay-marriage ruling and other expansions of Americans\u2019 constitutional rights.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the Post argued that \u201cBiden conveniently forgets (or, who knows with him, maybe he really doesn\u2019t recall) that he himself <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/05\/04\/biden-once-voted-to-overturn-roe-v-wade\/\">was anti-Roe\u00a0<em>for at least a decade<\/em><\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t like the Supreme Court decision on abortion. I think it went too far,\u201d he told the Washingtonian in 1974. The Post also noted that in 1982 Biden supported a constitutional amendment that was nearly identical to the leaked potential draft decision. That amendment would have recognized abortion as a states\u2019 rights issue.<\/p>\n<p>So does Biden consider himself to be a reformed extremist? That\u2019s unlikely. Instead, his comments are simply more of the same division that\u2019s come to be expected from the president, Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL) explained to Fox News.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn our politics, you have people who very vehemently disagree on what the policy should be, and frankly, what the politics should be,\u201d Donalds <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/byron-donalds-biden-maga-crowd-divisive-presidents\">said<\/a> Thursday morning. \u201cBut when you do this to Americans when you try to divide them because of who they support to be president of the United States in the future or who they\u2019ve supported in the past, that is outrageous. I thought Joe Biden wanted to stand for unity. He\u2019s never stood for that. He\u2019s been one of the most divisive presidents we\u2019ve ever had.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s comments would indicate that MAGA supporters are more extreme than the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fbi.gov\/history\/famous-cases\/weather-underground-bombings\">violence perpetrated by radical leftists<\/a> like the Weather Underground during the 1970s. He even ignores the string of tragedies in the past year seemingly inspired by black nationalism, such as an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/04\/02\/us\/noah-green-farrakhan.html\">attack on the Capitol<\/a> that left one dead in April 2021. Nor does he seem to recognize the Black Panthers, \u201cantifa\u201d activists, and a wide variety of other actual extremist political organizations on both ends of the political spectrum.<\/p>\n<p>Even if Biden were solely referencing the capitol protest that turned into a riot over the 2020 election results on January 6, 2021, the \u201cMAGA crowd\u201d still wouldn\u2019t rise to earn the distinction as the \u201cthe most extreme political organization\u201d in recent American history \u2014 especially not for merely opposing<em>\u00a0Roe<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Biden, of course, is the same man who told a group of people, including hundreds of African Americans, that GOP presidential and vice presidential candidates Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.snopes.com\/fact-check\/joe-biden-put-yall-back-in-chains\/\">wanted<\/a> to \u201cput y\u2019all back in chains.\u201d It certainly was a racially explosive comment to make and one that<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=vYtEuuhFRPA\"> earned sharp criticism<\/a> from the Romney camp.<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s comments in 2012 and 2022 indicate he does not have any genuine concern for American democracy, fighting extremism, or whatever else the Left likes to say these days to justify such rhetoric.
