Mike Braun of Indiana on Wednesday, Becerra not only defended the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/04\/21\/the-white-house-is-lying-to-you-about-the-irreversible-damage-chemical-castration-causes\/\">White House\u2019s support<\/a> for experimentation on kids\u2019 sex characteristics but also brushed off concerns that the so-called \u201cgender-affirming care\u201d promoted by the government causes irreversible damage. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe that we should help those have the life-affirming care that they need,\u201d Becerra, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hhs.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/hhs-ocr-notice-and-guidance-gender-affirming-care.pdf\">along with the Biden administration<\/a> has previously signaled <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/biden-hhs-becerra-suggests-support-taxpayer-funded-gender-altering-procedures-children\">support for using taxpayer dollars<\/a> to fund genital mutilation surgeries, told Braun. \u201cThere are many transgender youth who have actually gone in the opposite direction, taking their life. If we can make a life better for someone in America, we should, especially if, in consultation with their physician, they approve of those procedures.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"djFRgm2PEiTynJqwt4MxC9IobNvrz0apZcXQWAlfS81G653UksLhe7\"><\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p><\/span>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Becerra\u2019s comments come just weeks after the HHS\u2019s Office of Population Affairs\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/opa.hhs.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/2022-03\/gender-affirming-care-young-people-march-2022.pdf\">dangerously oversimplified<\/a>\u00a0the permanent and damaging effects that radical gender ideology, chemical castration, puberty blockers, and genital mutilation surgeries have on children and adults.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><\/figure>\n<p>That same month, Rachel Levine, the male U.S. assistant secretary for health who masquerades as a female, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/05\/05\/quacks-like-rachel-levine-want-control-of-your-children-and-theyll-win-if-parents-and-states-dont-fight-back\/?utm_source=rss&#038;utm_medium=rss&#038;utm_campaign=quacks-like-rachel-levine-want-control-of-your-children-and-theyll-win-if-parents-and-states-dont-fight-back&#038;utm_term=2022-05-05\">falsely claimed<\/a>, \u201cThere is no argument among medical professionals \u2014 pediatricians, pediatric endocrinologists, adolescent medicine physicians, adolescent psychiatrists, psychologists, etc. \u2014 about the value and the importance of gender-affirming care.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In his interrogation of Becerra, Braun pointed out that the puberty blockers and \u201cgrotesque\u201d surgeries recommended by the Biden administration, specifically HHS, are not approved by the Food and Drug Administration and thus are often prescribed \u201coff label,\u201d but the secretary didn\u2019t care.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe FDA would raise alarms if they saw that a particular medicine or treatment were being misused. And at this stage, what we know is that for a drug to be out there available, it has to be safe and effective as FDA has found,\u201d Becerra said. \u201cSo what I would simply say with regard to this particular subject is when individuals go in for care, it\u2019s their physician who\u2019s making that decision with them about what type of medicine or treatment they should receive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know, if you had used that same logic on what we\u2019ve just navigated through Covid, it seems like there would have been a different point of view. And to me, for many parents across the country, this has more potentially tragic consequences, and it seems like it\u2019s a double standard,\u201d Braun replied. <\/p>\n<p>Data from around the world suggests that these radical procedures disguised as \u201ctreatments\u201d by the Biden administration have caused\u00a0\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/abigailshrier.substack.com\/p\/not-a-kitchen-table-issue-jen-psaki?s=r\">sexual dysfunction, infertility, cardiac event[,] endometrial cancer<\/a>,\u201d and even\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/tag\/sex-change-regret\/\">transition regret<\/a>\u00a0among people who receive them. Yet the HHS leader stood by the White House\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/04\/21\/the-white-house-is-lying-to-you-about-the-irreversible-damage-chemical-castration-causes\/\">lies<\/a> and claimed that chemical castration and other such experiments are acceptable as long as a doctor signs off on them. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn what case would it be appropriate to perform irreversible sex-change surgery on kids?\u201d Braun asked. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose decisions are made by that individual in consultation with physician and caregivers, and no decision would be made without having consulted appropriately,\u201d Becerra replied. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would say to you that many of our medical experts will tell you that we\u2019ve explored this subject for a long time and what we find is that we are helping improve the lives of many Americans by providing them with the care that they have chosen with the informed consent of family and also with the consent and advice of their own physician,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n<p>\n  Jordan Boyd is a staff writer at The Federalist and co-producer of The Federalist Radio Hour.
