Danny McCormick, a Republican, would acknowledge \u201cthe sanctity of innocent human life, created in the image of God, which should be equally protected from fertilization to natural death.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>On Wednesday afternoon, lawmakers on the Louisiana House\u2019s criminal justice committee <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/house.louisiana.gov\/H_Video\/HD\/HCR6\"><span>approved<\/span><\/a><span> the bill by a 7-2 vote.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The bill ensures \u201cthe right to life and equal protection of the laws to all unborn children from the moment of fertilization by protecting them by the same laws protecting other human beings.\u201d The bill would also \u201ctreat as void\u201d any federal laws or court rulings \u2014 namely, <\/span><i><span>Roe v. Wade<\/span><\/i><span> and its judicial progeny \u2014 that \u201cdeprive an unborn child of the right to life or prohibit the equal protection of such right.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Under the Abolition of Abortion in Louisiana Act, state authorities would therefore apply laws about homicide to children in the womb.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Zach Conover \u2014 the communications director for Christian ministry <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/endabortionnow.com\"><span>End Abortion Now<\/span><\/a><span>, which supported the Abolition of Abortion in Louisiana Act \u2014 told The Daily Wire that \u201c<\/span><span>equal protection simply means the same laws that protect born children from being murdered ought to protect preborn children from the same thing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cEvery state has a penal code for homicide,\u201d he continued. \u201cHowever, with many of these states there exists within the code an exception for abortion. HB813 removes the exception to ensure that there can be no legal discrimination against babies in the womb.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Brian Gunter \u2014 the senior pastor of First Baptist Church in Livingston, Louisiana, who was instrumental in organizing other Christians in the state to support the legislation \u2014 explained to The Daily Wire that the abolition bill differs from other pro-life proposals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThis bill enacts the immediate and total abolition of abortion in Louisiana. If this bill becomes law, all abortion will be criminalized in Louisiana,\u201d he said. \u201cNo compromises. No waiting\u2026 This bill will equally protect a child in the womb with the same criminal laws that protect a child outside the womb.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Gunter said that Louisiana\u2019s current pro-life trigger law \u2014 the \u201cThe Human Life Protection Act\u201d \u2014 only penalizes abortionists with $1,000 fines, even though animal cruelty is fined at up to $25,000 in Louisiana.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Conover added that \u201c<\/span><span>HB813 is the strongest bill of its kind ever proposed in Louisiana.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cVirtually all pro-life laws allow for exceptions, acquiesce to the illegitimacy of the <\/span><i><span>Roe <\/span><\/i><span>opinion, and exempt mothers from any legal culpability. HB813 does none of these,\u201d he explained. \u201cIt protects all human beings from fertilization, affirming that the definition of a person includes a preborn child, thus securing for them the same protections under the law enjoyed by everyone else. Any existing provisions at the state level regulating the practice of abortion are repealed in favor of the total and immediate abolition of abortion.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Deliberations over the bill occurred after Politico <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/the-right-to-an-abortion-is-sacred-democratic-lawmakers-renew-calls-to-codify-roe\"><span>published<\/span><\/a><span> Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito\u2019s draft majority opinion that would overrule <\/span><i><span>Roe v. Wade<\/span><\/i><span>. Alito writes that \u201cRoe was egregiously wrong from the start\u201d and \u201cwe hold that <\/span><i><span>Roe <\/span><\/i><span>and <\/span><i><span>Casey <\/span><\/i><span>must be overruled.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Gunter, however, noted that the Abolition of Abortion in Louisiana Act \u201c<\/span><span>would be effective whether or not <\/span><i><span>Roe <\/span><\/i><span>is overturned.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201c<\/span><i><span>Roe<\/span><\/i><span> was unconstitutional from the start, and states never should have complied with <\/span><i><span>Roe <\/span><\/i><span>\u2014 just as many states refused to comply with <\/span><i><span>Dred Scott v.
