And yes, Dolly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/dolly-partons-dollywood-to-pay-100-tuition-fees-and-books-for-any-employee-pursuing-higher-education\">Parton<\/a> made the cut, despite the country music legend making a public plea to have her name taken off the ballot for fear that she didn\u2019t meet the qualifications of a rock star. The singer said she was \u201cflattered and grateful to be nominated\u201d but did not feel she \u201cearned that right,\u201d as previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/country-legend-dolly-parton-respectfully-bows-out-of-rock-roll-hall-of-fame-consideration\">reported<\/a> by The Daily Wire.<\/p>\n<p>Parton\u2019s fellow inductees include rocker Pat Benetar, Carly Simon, Eminem, Duran Duran, Lionel Richie, and the Eurythmics.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">And your <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/RockHall2022?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#RockHall2022<\/a> Inductees are\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/pPRuqMf8Kw\">pic.twitter.com\/pPRuqMf8Kw<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Rock Hall (@rockhall) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/rockhall\/status\/1521824460894048258?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 4, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The video announcement also shared that songwriters Jimmy Jam &#038; Terry Lewis and heavy metal group Judas Priest would join the Rock Hall with the \u201caward for musical excellence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWow, this is so exciting \u2014 at last. At last, you know?\u201d Judas Priest\u2019s Rob Halford told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/awards\/rock-roll-hall-of-fame-class-2022-dolly-parton-eminem-1235066490\/\">Billboard<\/a> after receiving the news. \u201cAnd, glory hallelujah, there\u2019s another metal band in the hall of fame! That\u2019s the blessing we\u2019ve all been waiting for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Richie called being selected \u201can incredible honor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would like to say THANK YOU to all of the voters, to all of my wonderful fans and to everyone at the Rock &#038; Roll Hall of Fame,\u201d the R&#038;B hitmaker said in a statement provided to the outlet. \u201cCongratulations to all of my fellow 2022 inductees!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Parton has yet to comment on being elected, but just days before the big announcement, she did come out and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2022\/04\/29\/1095444447\/dolly-parton-james-patterson-novel\">said she\u2019d<\/a> \u201cgracefully\u201d accept it after previously turning down the nomination.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would just say thanks and I\u2019ll accept it because the fans vote,\u201d the \u201c9 to 5\u201d star shared. \u201cBut when I said that, it was always my belief that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was for the people in rock music, and I have found out lately that it\u2019s not necessarily that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut if they can\u2019t go there to be recognized, where do they go?\u201d she added. \u201cSo I just felt like I would be taking away from someone that maybe deserved it, certainly more than me, because I never considered myself a rock artist.
