Wade<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Brewer is the director of Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization, which is the facility involved in the monumental case, <i>Dobbs vs. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization. <\/i>The Supreme Court is currently considering the case after hearing arguments regarding it<i> <\/i>in December.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">As The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/chief-justice-roberts-likely-to-order-investigation-of-scotus-leak-report\"><span class=\"s1\">reported<\/span><\/a>, Politico released a leaked Supreme Court draft majority opinion to the public on Monday night, although it is still not clear who leaked the document from inside the high court.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>In it, Justice Samuel Alito wrote the draft of the majority opinion, writing, \u201cWe hold that\u00a0<i>Roe<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0<i>Casey<\/i>\u00a0must be overruled,\u201d and sending the wider pro-abortion world into panic.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Brewer said the clinic will continue to work as usual after the draft opinion was leaked in an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/mississippi-abortion-clinic-director-roe-wade-rcna27096\"><span class=\"s1\">NBC News<\/span><\/a> on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">However, Brewer said she\u2019s also creating a plan for how she can keep offering abortions to women \u2014 possibly in New Mexico \u2014\u00a0 if the Jackson facility, known as the \u201cPink House,\u201d is made to shut down or dial back what it does.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cOur plans are to open a facility in New Mexico,\u201d she said. \u201cWe\u2019ve been calling it the Pink House West just to let people know we\u2019re still here for them, and we\u2019re still going to fight for women regardless.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Brewer was reportedly in an airport on Monday with Diane Derzis, the owner of the clinic, when Derzis showed her a media report about how the opinion had been leaked.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cIt was like, \u2018here we go,\u2019\u201d Brewer said, adding that she had not yet discussed the draft with workers at the clinic, or said how it could affect the clinic. However, her employees have kept up with the case. The clinic has also reportedly had more people traveling to it from nearby states.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cWe\u2019ve watched so much change just because of Texas,\u201d Brewer said. \u201cYou multiply that times 20, that\u2019s going to be detrimental. You\u2019re going to see an uptick in hospitalizations. You\u2019re going to see an uptick in women doing things that are unsafe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cIt\u2019s going to affect women who need it the most,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s not going to affect women who have the means financially to be able to get an abortion anywhere. They will still have access some type of way. That\u2019s what devastates me. The ones who need it the most are the ones who will be affected.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Justice Alito brought up racial topics in the opinion, writing, \u201cIt is beyond dispute that Roe has had that demographic effect,\u201d noting, \u201cA highly disproportionate percentage of aborted fetuses are black.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">When asked about this, Brewer, a black woman, reportedly questioned how pro-life activists bring up race by discussing the need to get rid of <i>Roe <\/i>as a civil rights issue.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cI think they use that as an excuse,\u201d she said of pro-life people. \u201cIf you wanted to help the Black race, or protect the Black race, there are so many other things you would be doing. You would be making the public school system a lot better for these African American children that are here already.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">If the Supreme Court decides to overturn the <i>Roe <\/i>and <i>Casey <\/i>decisions, laws on abortion would once again be determined at the state level.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">As Justice Alito noted in the leaked opinion, \u201cIt is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people\u2019s elected representatives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201c<i>Roe<\/i>\u00a0was egregiously wrong from the start.
