While the cause of the collapse is still under investigation, there are reports it was the result of sabotage, MarketWatch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/story\/explosion-damages-railway-bridge-in-russia-it-was-a-sabotage-01651446876\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>An image shared on Facebook claims to show the bridge in question collapsed and partially submerged in water. \u201cOh no! A railway bridge in #Kursk region has collapsed,\u201d reads the image\u2019s caption. \u201cAnd so close to #Ukrainian border\u2026What an unfortunate accident.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The bridge pictured, however, is not the bridge that collapsed in Kursk. A reverse image search revealed the image was taken in the Russian city of Murmansk in 2020 and can be found in an article published that year by Russian media outlet <a href=\"https:\/\/lenta.ru\/news\/2020\/06\/01\/most_\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lenta.ru<\/a>. The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry <a href=\"https:\/\/51.mchs.gov.ru\/deyatelnost\/stranicy-s-glavnoy\/press-sluzhba\/novosti\/4172242\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">stated<\/a> in June 2020 that the bridge collapse in Murmansk was due to rapid snowmelt and \u201chigh water content\u201d and that nobody was injured in the incident.<\/p>\n<p>Murmansk is also over 2,000 kilometers away from Kursk and does not border Ukraine, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/dir\/Murmansk,+Murmansk+Oblast,+Russia\/Kursk,+Kursk+Oblast,+Russia\/@59.1573723,18.2494823,4z\/data=!3m1!4b1!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x44341030ed0c22d5:0x98c6ba30cbc321a5!2m2!1d33.0855849!2d68.9733113!1m5!1m1!1s0x412f0375da12791b:0x9788ae489cd5e746!2m2!1d36.1947023!2d51.7482395!3e0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Google Maps<\/a>. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2022\/04\/28\/fact-check-russia-military-cargo-train-derailment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Does This Video Show A Train Carrying Russian Military Vehicles Being Derailed Near Ukraine?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A number of sites in Russia near the Ukrainian border have suffered damage from what appears to be Ukrainian military strikes in recent weeks, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rferl.org\/a\/ukraine-shadow-war-russian-border-attacks\/31827632.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">RFL\/RE<\/a>.
