Wade in a leaked draft opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska said that if the draft opinion was accurate, \u201cit rocks my confidence in the court right now,\u201d Politico\u2019s Burgess Everett <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/burgessev\/status\/1521510130151567365\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>. Chief Justice John Roberts <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/03\/betrayal-roberts-speaks-out-about-scotus-leak-announces-investigation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">confirmed the accuracy<\/a> of the leak in a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/johnkruzel\/status\/1521508763861192706\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">statement<\/a> Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the decision is going the way that the draft that has been revealed is actually the case, it was not the direction that I believed that the court would take based on statements have been made about Roe being settled and being precedent,\u201d Murkowski said, The New York Times\u2019 Emily Cochrane <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ESCochrane\/status\/1521525609465266176\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sen. Susan Collins of Maine said in a statement to the Daily Caller News Foundation that, should the draft become the final decision, it would be \u201ccompletely inconsistent\u201d with what Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh told her before their confirmations. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/07\/gretchen-whitmer-lawsuit-abortion-constitutional-right\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Democratic Gov. She <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/videos\/politics\/2018\/07\/01\/sotu-collins-gorsuch.cnn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">told<\/a> CNN Gorsuch understood the importance of \u201cprecedent,\u201d and said Kavanaugh believed the ruling to be \u201csettled law,\u201d The Washington Post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/powerpost\/sen-susan-collins-said-kavanaugh-sees-roe-v-wade-as-settled-law\/2018\/08\/21\/214ae5dc-a54c-11e8-8fac-12e98c13528d_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Murkowski claimed Justice Amy Coney Barrett would not <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/03\/joe-biden-rallies-voters-midterms-roe-v-wade-draft-opinion-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">overturn Roe<\/a> before she voted to confirm the Trump appointee, The Hill <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/senate\/522877-murkowski-predicts-barrett-wont-overturn-roe-v-wade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t see her overturning the decision in Roe v. Wade, based on \u2014 based on the weighting of the reliance factors,\u201d she said at the time. \u201cI believe, that given how she outlined, not only to me but how she spoke to the issue of reliance when she was before the committee, I believe that she will look at that and weight that in any matters, in any cases that come before her that take up Roe v.
