Later reports alleged that Gates had an affair with a Microsoft employee and the billionaire Microsoft co-founder just admitted that he caused his wife pain during an interview with \u201cToday\u201d co-anchor Savannah Guthrie.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWere you unfaithful in your marriage? Was that one of the reasons there was the divorce?\u201d Guthrie asked Bill during their conversation, which was mostly to promote the entrepreneur\u2019s new book, \u201cHow to Prevent the Next Pandemic.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI certainly made mistakes, and I take responsibility,\u201d the 66-year-old replied, as Page Six <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2022\/05\/03\/bill-gates-grilled-over-cheating-rumors-after-melinda-divorce\/\"><span>reported<\/span><\/a><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI don\u2019t think delving into the particulars at this point is constructive, but yes, I caused pain, and I feel terrible about that,\u201d he continued.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Just after the Gates separated last year, Bill admitted to having \u201can affair almost 20 years ago\u201d with a fellow Microsoft employee.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Melinda demurred when she was asked if her ex-husband was a serial cheater. \u201cThose are questions Bill needs to answer,\u201d the 66-year-old mom of three replied when asked about that on CBS Sunday Morning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The \u201cMoment of Lift\u201d author delved into how she felt about all of it. \u201cI think it\u2019s really important to say, look, I had a lot of tears for many days,\u201d she said, per <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/celebrity-news\/news\/melinda-gates-breaks-silence-on-bill-gates-affair-after-divorce\/\"><span>Us Weekly<\/span><\/a><span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI mean, [I had] days where I\u2019m literally laying on the floor and the carpet, you know, this close to me, thinking, \u2018How can this be? How can I get up? How am I gonna move forward?\u2019 And days I certainly was angry. That\u2019s part of the grieving process. You\u2019re grieving a loss of something you thought you had and thought you had for your lifetime. I mean, this is painful stuff.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cAt the end of the day, though, I started on this journey of healing, and I feel like I\u2019m starting to get to the other side. And I do feel like I\u2019m turning a page in the chapter now,\u201d Melinda continued. \u201cI mean, it\u2019s 2022, and I\u2019m actually really excited about what\u2019s to come and life ahead for me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The couple wed in 1994 and welcomed three children together through the course of their marriage. They announced their separation in May via a Twitter statement.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cAfter a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage,\u201d she wrote. \u201cOver the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives.
