Wade set off shockwaves in Washington as Republican lawmakers denounced the\u00a0\u200bunprecedented \u200bleaking of the ruling as a way to intimidate the justices to reverse course.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/marcorubio\/status\/1521304509657591808\">Marco Rubio<\/a> (R-Fla.) suggested the leak of the draft opinion published by Politico Monday was intended to \u201cintimidate\u201d the justices to reconsider their decision.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe next time you hear the far left preaching about how they are fighting to preserve our Republic\u2019s institutions &#038; norms remember how they leaked a Supreme Court opinion in an attempt to intimidate the justices on abortion,\u201d Rubio wrote on Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>Others praised Justice Samuel Alito, who reportedly penned the 98-page <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/05\/02\/supreme-court-has-drafted-opinion-to-overturn-roe-v-wade\/\">draft opinion<\/a> overturning the landmark 1973\u00a0\u200bruling.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people\u2019s elected representatives,\u201d the decision says, according to the outlet\u200b, which obtained a leaked copy of the 98-page document\u200b.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/HawleyMO\/status\/1521294788179468288\">Josh Hawley<\/a> called his decision \u201ctightly argued, and morally powerful\u201d and called on the Supreme Court to release it immediately.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/1395150720-1.jpg\"><\/a><figcaption>Renee Bracey Sherman, the founder of We Testify,  leads a talk-back for those who have had abortions to share stories of their experience outside the U.S. Supreme Court.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Anna Moneymaker\/Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe left continues its assault on the Supreme Court with an unprecedented breach of confidentiality, clearly meant to intimidate,\u201d Hawley (R-Mo.) wrote on Twitter. \u201cThe Justices mustn\u2019t give in to this attempt to corrupt the process. Michael Waltz (R-Fla.) warned that the leak is an indication of the \u201cscorched-earth tactics\u201d Democrats are prepared to unleash to protect Roe and predicted the reaction will be akin to the attacks on Justice Brett Kavanaugh.\u200b<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is just so outrageous that this draft opinion was leaked. It\u2019s clearly an attempt to influence the outcome.
