Migrants on the river bank were shouting at two men in the water: the drowning man, and another man holding onto a bridge pillar.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was horrific to see,\u201d said Llenas during Fox News\u2019 \u201cAmerica\u2019s Newsroom\u201d report. \u201cThere are the migrants who are suffering the most, who are risking their lives leaving horrific conditions and coming here under false pretenses about this nation\u2019s immigration policy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Guardsmen told Llenas that they were ordered not to do water rescues after the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-body-of-missing-texas-national-guardsman-found\">drowning<\/a> of Specialist Bishop Evans last month. The migrant drowned in the same area where Evans died.<\/p>\n<p>According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2022\/04\/27\/bishop-evans-texas-soldier-drown-flotation\/\">report<\/a> from the Texas Tribune last week, Evans and other members of Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott\u2019s border securing mission, Operation Lone Star, lacked the safety equipment to conduct water rescues. The Texas Military Department issued an order for the necessary buoys and ropes, but the equipment hadn\u2019t arrived.<\/p>\n<p>The friend of the drowned Nicaraguan man, a 42 year old who identified himself as Elbe Castro, managed to float down the river onto a small bridge ledge in the water. Castro told Llenas that he and his friend, Nelson, left Nicaragua last December.<\/p>\n<p>Border Patrol notified Mexican authorities to rescue Castro after the National Guard reached out.<\/p>\n<p>Fellow Fox News reporter Bill Melugin noted that this latest drowning follows \u201cmultiple drownings\u201d that occurred last week.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Wow. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FoxNews?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@FoxNews<\/a> colleague <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BryanLlenas?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@BryanLlenas<\/a> reports a male migrant just drowned in the Rio Grande right front of him in Eagle Pass, TX. <br \/>It\u2019s an awful thing to witness.<\/p>\n<p>There were multiple drownings when we were there last week, including TX National Guard soldier, SPC Bishop Evans.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Bill Melugin (@BillFOXLA) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BillFOXLA\/status\/1520890629063995393?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 1, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Last month, Reuters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/americas\/nicaragua-would-be-migrants-learn-swim-brave-deadly-rio-grande-2022-04-26\/?taid=6268b412e7253e00019977b1&#038;utm_campaign=trueAnthem:+Trending+Content&#038;utm_medium=trueAnthem&#038;utm_source=twitter\">reported<\/a> that Nicaraguans were taking swim lessons to prepare for crossing the Rio Grande. The report focused on twelve Nicaraguans who confirmed they intended to enter the U.S. illegally.
