Apple could face a fine of up to $36.6 billion. <\/p>\n<div class=\"Enhancement\">\n<div class=\"Enhancement-item\">\n<div class=\"TweetEmbed\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;We have indications that Apple restricted third-party access to key technology necessary to develop rival mobile wallet solutions on Apple&#8217;s devices,&#8221; EU antitrust chief Margrethe Vestager said in a <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/commission\/presscorner\/detail\/en\/ip_22_2764\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">press statement<\/a>. &#8220;In our statement of objections, we preliminarily found that Apple may have restricted competition to the benefit of its own solution Apple Pay. Congress is considering the <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/technology\/the-open-app-markets-act-spurs-significant-debate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Open App Markets Act<\/a>, which could significantly affect the company&#8217;s ability to operate online marketplaces for digital applications.
