Vance, whose campaign <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/27\/jd-vances-donald-trump-lead-poll\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">soared in the polls<\/a>\u00a0in the aftermath.<\/p>\n<p>State Sen. Matt Dolan, the only primary candidate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/2022\/05\/13\/gop-races-dominated-maga-candidateswhether-trump-has-backed-them-not-1701160.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">not to seek Trump\u2019s endorsement<\/a>, has also surged in the final days of the race, placing second in a Trafalgar Group <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetrafalgargroup.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/TRF-OH-Sen-GOP-0501-Report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">poll<\/a> released Monday. Dolan received 22% of the vote, compared to Vance\u2019s 26%.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Tim Ryan is the favorite to win the Democratic primary and has already begun to position himself as a moderate for the general election. The congressman <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/02\/tim-ryan-masks-ohio-senate-joe-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">lambasted<\/a> the Biden administration\u2019s stance on mask mandates and rising inflation in a New York Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/05\/02\/us\/politics\/democrats-midterms-ohio.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">interview<\/a> published Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Republican Gov. Mike DeWine is also up for reelection and is facing primary challengers from the right after implementing COVID-19 restrictions that <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/08\/25\/ohio-gop-mike-dewine-impeach-coronavirus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">angered many conservatives<\/a>. At the start of the pandemic, the governor shut down schools, bars and restaurants and postponed the state\u2019s March presidential primary, The Atlantic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/politics\/archive\/2022\/04\/how-ohio-governor-mike-dewine-survived-trump\/629450\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7421494\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-7421494\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ohio Gov. The Trafalgar <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetrafalgargroup.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/TRF-OH-Gov-GOP-0502-Report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">poll<\/a> found DeWine with a 20-point lead over his closest competitor, Jim Renacci, with 48% of the vote. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/29\/pivotal-primary-races-2022-midterms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Here Are The 12 Pivotal Primary Races Of 2022)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Trump chose not to endorse anyone in the race. Before he was banned, Trump tweeted \u201cWho will be running for Governor of the Great State of Ohio? Will be hotly contested!\u201d after DeWine acknowledged President Joe Biden\u2019s victory in the 2020 presidential election, Fox 8 <a href=\"https:\/\/fox8.com\/news\/trump-doesnt-endorse-in-ohio-governor-primary-as-anti-dewine-vote-is-split\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe looks at the polls, the people advising him look at the polls as well, and they see that DeWine is going to win that contest hands down,\u201d Paul Beck, professor emeritus of political science at Ohio State University, told Fox 8.<\/p>\n<p>In the House races, former Trump aide <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/17\/anthony-gonzalez-retirement-ohio-donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Max Miller<\/a> is campaigning to be the nominee of Ohio\u2019s 7th Congressional District. Miller has a huge cash advantage over his competitors, raising almost $2 million for his campaign as of April 13, Cleveland.com <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cleveland.com\/news\/2022\/04\/former-president-donald-trump-tries-to-tip-the-scale-in-the-reconfigured-7th-congressional-districts-republican-primary.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Left-wing candidate Nina Turner is also making another attempt to become the Democratic nominee for Ohio\u2019s 11th Congressional District, as she was beaten by Rep. Shontel Brown in a December special election, The Hill <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/news\/campaign\/3471905-biden-endorses-shontel-brown-against-nina-turner\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>. President Joe Biden, who Turner compared voting for to eating a \u201cbowl of shit,\u201d and Rep.
