Version: 4.0.47--><div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/GettyImages-73245308-1200x800-1.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\" \/><\/div>\n<p><span>According to the \u201cUpdated COVID-19 Vaccine Allocation Guidelines\u201d from the California Department of Public Health, medical marijuana workers are being prioritized ahead of those working in education or childcare services, as well as many over the age of 65.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Updated on February 13, the<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdph.ca.gov\/Programs\/CID\/DCDC\/Pages\/COVID-19\/VaccineAllocationGuidelines.aspx\"><span>guidelines<\/span><\/a> <span>define two phases \u2014 Phase 1A and Phase 1B \u2014 which describe vaccine eligibility for various groups \u201cbased on available supply.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Phase 1A applies to 3,142,166 Californians under the \u201chealthcare workers and LTC residents\u201d category, while Phase 1B applies to 5,960,528 Californians under the \u201cfood\/agriculture, education\/healthcare, and emergency services\u201d category, and 6,254,300 Californians in the \u201cover 65 years-old\u201d category.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The guidelines also include a section titled \u201cAchieving equity,\u201d which states that \u201cThis age-based framework will be coupled with a vaccine distribution and engagement approach that prioritizes disproportionately impacted communities, settings, and populations to ensure those eligible for vaccines within these communities are more likely to receive it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>By the California Department of Public Health\u2019s announcement, \u201ccannabis industry employees\u201d are included in Phase 1A for \u201cmedicinal cannabis,\u201d with \u201cgrowing, production, storage, transport and distribution\u201d included in Phase 1B.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>According to these guidelines, medicinal cannabis industry employees will be prioritized ahead of those who \u201cwork in any role in the following Education and Child Care settings:\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>All formal and informal childcare workers, including day care providers<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>All staff in colleges, universities, junior colleges, community colleges, and other postsecondary education facilities<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>All staff in educational support services and administration<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>All staff in Pre-kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high schools<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>All staff in technical and trade schools<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Any other workers involved in child and\/or student care, including school bus drivers and monitors, crosswalk guards, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span>They are also prioritized ahead of \u201c<\/span><span>Persons at risk of occupational exposure to SARS-CoV-2 through their work in any role in the<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/covid19.ca.gov\/essential-workforce\/\"><span>Emergency Services &amp; Food and Agriculture Sectors from CA Essential Workforce<\/span><\/a> <span>list,\u201d which includes \u201c<\/span><span>Public, private, and voluntary personnel (front line and management) in emergency management, law enforcement, fire and rescue services, emergency medical services, corrections, rehabilitation and reentry, search and rescue, hazardous material response, and technicians supporting maritime and aviation emergency response,\u201d<\/span> <span>\u201c<\/span><span>Workers responding to abuse and neglect of children, elders and dependent adults,\u201d and \u201cWorkers in animal diagnostic and food testing laboratories.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Finally, medicinal cannabis industry employees will be prioritized ahead of over 6 million Californians who fall into the \u201cover 65 years-old\u201d category.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>However, the guidelines also appear to be somewhat contradictory, including the line \u201cMedical cannabis workers should be accommodated as necessary in Phase 1b, Tier 1, by nature of their designations in eligible essential workforce classifications.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfchronicle.com\/health\/article\/California-prioritizes-cannabis-workers-15958241.php\">San Francisco Chronicle<\/a>, \u201c<\/span><span>The San Francisco COVID Command Center said its \u2018primary focus right now is to vaccinate the 65 and older population as they represent just 15 percent of the population but over 83 percent of all deaths,\u2019 but did not say whether cannabis workers would be excluded from the top tier of the vaccination rollout.\u201d<\/span><span>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
