BLM has concerning patterns of behavior &#038; we\u2019ll do what it takes to get to the bottom of it on behalf of generous Hoosiers who have donated to them.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/5U2lJtU7cO\">https:\/\/t.co\/5U2lJtU7cO<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Todd Rokita (@AGToddRokita) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AGToddRokita\/status\/1519709292089298946?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 28, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cProtecting Indiana consumers from this house of cards is critical,\u201d Rokita said. \u201cThere are concerning patterns of behavior from this organization, and we will do what it takes\u2014including this lawsuit\u2014to get to the bottom of it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The concerns addressed in the legal proceeding came following a report in February by BLM that the organization raised $90 million in 2020 from 30 affiliates, including one chapter in South Bend, Indiana. The IRS filing by BLM for the first half of 2020 listed $0 during the same time period.<\/p>\n<p>Under the state\u2019s law, failure to comply with the investigation could lead to BLM being banned from future fundraising in Indiana.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are many Indiana stakeholders and donors who have been impacted by these allegations. This lawsuit will allow for a court to swiftly and efficiently resolve the state\u2019s request for information,\u201d Rokita said.<\/p>\n<p>Rokita also addressed the legal concern in an op-ed published by the Washington Examiner on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBack in October 2020, for example, leaders of the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation bought a $6 million mansion in Southern California,\u201d Rokita <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/restoring-america\/patriotism-unity\/why-im-suing-black-lives-matter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs Indiana\u2019s attorney general, I wouldn\u2019t necessarily make such events my business,\u201d he added. \u201cBut I do make it my business when charitable donors here in my state get scammed. A big part of my job is protecting Hoosier consumers, and I take that responsibility very seriously.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During a Sunday interview on Fox News, Rokita also addressed the corporations that donated to the BLM.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the woke corporation that gave millions of dollars and others on\u00a0the left, they should know that I\u2019m not going to give up,\u201d Rokita <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/black-lives-matter-lawsuit-concerning-donation-facts-indiana-ag\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think they\u2019d rather just us forget about this episode, forget about the mansions, forget about everything else \u2013 and we\u2019re not because we can\u2019t be this gullible again,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/blm-spent-6-million-buying-a-california-mansion-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> last month that BLM\u2019s leadership spent nearly $6 million in donations to purchase a 6,500-square-foot California mansion with the help of a high-powered Democratic Party law firm. Internal messages show the leadership scurrying to explain how the charity intended to use the home.<\/p>\n<p>The seven-bedroom home, known as the \u201cCampus,\u201d was purchased in October 2020. The sprawling complex includes \u201cseveral fireplaces, a soundstage, a pool and bungalow, and parking for more than 20 cars, according to real-estate listings,\u201d wrote Sean Campbell in New York Magazine late Monday morning.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe transaction has not been previously reported, and Black Lives Matter\u2019s leadership had hoped to keep the house\u2019s existence a secret,\u201d added Campbell, who said he had seen leaked internal memos, emails, and messages about the heretofore unknown real estate purchase.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies for breaking news, investigative reporting, sports, podcasts, in-depth analysis, books, and entertainment for a reason: because we believe in what we do.
