I think you look at some of these big institutions, we see with corporate America, big tech censorship, we see our bureaucracy totally out of control. Obviously, Brandon in the White House is a total disaster,\u201d DeSantis said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStand for the right things, but show courage, show backbone, and not back down from these people. If we back down, they\u2019re gonna steamroll us!\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The governor\u2019s references to Biden as \u201cBrandon\u201d are based on the popular \u201cLet\u2019s go Brandon\u201d phrase that turned viral in October after NASCAR driver Brandon Brown won a race in Talladega, Alabama. During Brown\u2019s interview, the crowd loudly chanted \u201cF**k Joe Biden.\u201d The NBC Sports host claimed the people were shouting support for the driver, saying, \u201cLet\u2019s go Brandon.\u201d The phrase soon became the basis for using the phrase in other venues, with \u201cLet\u2019s Go Brandon\u201d finding its way to everything from bumper stickers to shirts as a way to disparage the president\u2019s woeful leadership.<\/p>\n<p>During Monday\u2019s podcast, DeSantis also argued that conservatives in Florida have been unwilling to back down from the Left\u2019s censorship.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think in Florida, we\u2019ve been willing to stand time after time, when it gets hot, when we\u2019re facing the fire and we do not back down,\u201d the governor added.<\/p>\n<p>The podcast concluded with Boothe stating, \u201cI feel like we should end it with a, \u2018Let\u2019s go, Brandon!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis used the remark to double down on his take regarding Biden\u2019s failures in the White House.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know, it\u2019s funny, the media doesn\u2019t like that when you say Brandon,\u201d DeSantis responded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut what I tell them is, as long as he\u2019s treating my state the way he is, stiffing seniors of relief from disasters, not doing anything to lower gas prices, allowing all these illegals across the border, as long as he\u2019s doing that, he\u2019s Brandon to me,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GovRonDeSantis?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@GovRonDeSantis<\/a>: \u201cThe media doesn\u2019t like that when you say Brandon, but what I tell them is, as long as he\u2019s treating my state the way he is, stiffing seniors of relief from disasters, not doing anything to lower gas prices\u2026he\u2019s Brandon to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Listen: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/OBnBigUEBW\">https:\/\/t.co\/OBnBigUEBW<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/CaDx9ebdMZ\">pic.twitter.com\/CaDx9ebdMZ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Lisa Boothe (@LisaMarieBoothe) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LisaMarieBoothe\/status\/1521157644303712257?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 2, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The 38-minute <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iheart.com\/podcast\/1119-the-truth-with-lisa-booth-79779946\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">episode<\/a> also covered a variety of other controversies faced by the Florida governor, including the issue of gender identity among young children.<\/p>\n<p>The podcast was released after DeSantis <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/desantis-vows-to-challenge-biden-administrations-ministry-of-truth\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">vowed<\/a> on Friday to challenge Biden\u2019s proposed \u201cDisinformation Governance Board,\u201d comparing it to an Orwellian \u201cMinistry of Truth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou cannot have a Ministry of Truth in this country,\u201d DeSantis said in remarks made Friday morning in Williston, Florida.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s get real here. Let\u2019s make sure we are doing things to benefit Floridians and Americans, but we\u2019re not going to let Biden get away with this one.
