stemming from Durham&#8217;s <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/sco\/pr\/grand-jury-indicts-dc-attorney-making-false-statements-fbi-2016-regarding-alleged\">indictment<\/a> of Democratic cybersecurity lawyer Michael Sussmann, who is <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/durham-stripping-bare-incestuous-relationship-in-clinton-campaign-lawyer-case-chaffetz\">charged with lying<\/a> to the FBI about who he was representing when, in September 2016, he presented internet data that suggested a now-discredited link between former President Donald Trump and a Russian bank.<\/p>\n<div class=\"Enhancement\">\n<div class=\"Enhancement-item\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;Somehow, Durham is saying that he doesn&#8217;t think the FBI knew who Sussmann was representing, but I just find that hard to believe,&#8221; Jordan told<i> Just the News<\/i> founder John Solomon <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/art19.com\/shows\/john-solomon-reports\/episodes\/f838a561-03d7-42c9-9124-2561ae1caf07\">on his Friday podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Sussmann was <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/courts\/sussmann-wants-durham-filing-about-trump-white-house-snooping-stricken-from-record\">indicted<\/a> last September for allegedly <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/durham-grand-jury-indicts-lawyer-allegedly-lying-fbi-concealing-ties-clinton-campaign\">concealing<\/a> his clients \u2014 <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/durham-asks-judge-to-review-clinton-campaign-claims-of-attorney-client-privilege\">Hillary Clinton&#8217;s 2016 presidential campaign<\/a> and \u201cTech Executive-1,\u201d known to be former Neustar executive <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/tech-exec-1-says-he-will-plead-the-fifth-in-durham-case\">Rodney Joffe<\/a> \u2014 from FBI general counsel James Baker. <\/p>\n<p><b><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/barr-no-prosecutions-for-hunter-biden-laptop-censorship\">BARR: NO PROSECUTIONS FOR HUNTER BIDEN LAPTOP CENSORSHIP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Sussmann&#8217;s false statement misled the FBI General Counsel and other FBI personnel concerning the political nature of his work and deprived the FBI of information that might have permitted it more fully to assess and uncover the origins of the relevant data and technical analysis, including the identities and motivations of Sussmann&#8217;s clients,&#8221; <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/sco\/press-release\/file\/1433511\/download\">the indictment said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Sussmann denies lying to the FBI and has pleaded not guilty. His trial is set to begin next month.<\/p>\n<p>Jordan, who is a lead congressional investigator of the so-called Russiagate conspiracy, stressed that Baker was &#8220;actually friends with Sussmann&#8221; and cited one of the emails that has come up in the case. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cJim \u2014 it\u2019s Michael Sussmann. I have something time-sensitive (and sensitive) I need to discuss,\u201d <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/durham-sussmann-put-his-lie-to-the-fbi-in-writing\">Sussmann wrote to Baker<\/a> the night before their meeting at the FBI. \u201cDo you have [availability] for a short meeting tomorrow? I\u2019m coming on my own \u2014 not on behalf of a client or company \u2014 want to help the Bureau. Thanks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Baker has since left the FBI and <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/ex-top-fbi-lawyer-who-took-steele-dossier-seriously-joins-twitter\">joined Twitter<\/a> in the summer of 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Durham revealed in <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/durham-cia-concluded-data-alleging-trump-russia-connection-not-technically-plausible-user-created\">a court filing this month<\/a> that a government agency, identified in media reports as the CIA, found data from Sussmann indicating that coordination between Trump and Russia was &#8220;not technically plausible&#8221; and &#8220;user created.&#8221; Durham also asserted that &#8220;the Special Counsel\u2019s Office has not reached a definitive conclusion in this regard.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><b><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Beyond the correspondence with the FBI, Durham said in a prior filing that Sussmann later \u201cprovided an updated set of allegations \u2014 including the Russian Bank-1 data and additional allegations relating to Trump,\u201d to the agency believed to be the CIA. The Russian bank <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/durham-insists-snooping-evidence-valid-for-case-and-media-misinterpretations-dont-undermine-facts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">is Alfa-Bank<\/a>. The government expects to &#8220;adduce evidence at trial&#8221; that will reflect that the FBI and the CIA &#8220;concluded that the Russian Bank 1 allegations were untrue and unsupported,&#8221; Durham said this month.<\/p>\n<p>Jordan said &#8220;everything else&#8221; in Durham&#8217;s efforts he finds to be &#8220;encouraging, to see that he&#8217;s digging into this and getting to the bottom of it.&#8221; He added that what &#8220;we all suspected all along,&#8221; that the &#8220;Clinton campaign was really pushing&#8221; the Alfa-Bank connection in the final weeks of the 2020 election, has been affirmed, adding that it now &#8220;looks like&#8221; people in Clinton&#8217;s orbit &#8220;made it up out of whole cloth.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GOP Rep.
