The kits consist of basic needs for those who do not have shelter.<\/p>\n<p>Dallas-area organizations <a href=\"https:\/\/www.austinstreet.org\/donations_\/\">Austin Street Center<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/ourcalling.harnessapp.com\/wv2\/donate?method=one-time,monthly,roundup&amp;selected-method=one-time\">OurCalling<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/secure.acceptiva.com\/?cst=cb7d83\">The Stewpot<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/donate.ugmdallas.org\/general.html\">Union Gospel Mission<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/olumc.churchcenter.com\/giving\">Oak Lawn United Methodist Church<\/a> are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/politics\/2021\/02\/12\/days-long-cold-snap-creates-scramble-for-temporary-homeless-shelters-in-dallas\/\">reportedly<\/a> putting their funds together to help pay for temporary shelter as well as Covid-19 rapid tests for those in need.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lucilles1913.org\/support-lucille-s-1913.html\">Lucille\u2019s 1913 Community Kitchen<\/a> is preparing and distributing meals in the Houston area.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/caritasofaustin.org\/donate\/give\/?gclid=Cj0KCQiAvbiBBhD-ARIsAGM48bzOOeskkeYJoKTYAwxwC_7n_8ElkWA8VsQlM3KeYTWjntOoqiH1sIEaAsnhEALw_wcB\">Caritas of Austin<\/a>&nbsp;helps those experiencing housing insecurity in the Austin area. You can support them by making a financial donation or ordering items off of their <a href=\"https:\/\/smile.amazon.com\/gp\/chpf\/homepage\/ref=smi_se_cl_rd_ge?orig=%2Fhz%2Fcharitylist%2Fls%2F1M788DXOGQPB1%3FpldnSite%3D1\">Amazon wish list<\/a> to be shipped directly to the center\u2019s location.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.austinpetsalive.org\/donate\">Austin Pets Alive!<\/a> is working to keep pets across Texas warm and safe during the frigid weather conditions. The group needs objects to be donated and also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.austinpetsalive.org\/donate\/donate-campaign?utm_source=needsandhelpblog&amp;utm_medium=Donate&amp;utm_campaign=cold%20weather&amp;utm_term=Solicited%3A%20Digital%20Marketing&amp;utm_content=Unrestricted\">monetary donations<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>They list their current needs as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Water for people and animals (priority) (if tap water, must be boiled first)<\/li>\n<li>Diesel fuel to be brought to our Town Lake shelter for the dog kennels generator (priority)<\/li>\n<li>Gloves, hand warmers and dry heavy socks for people caring for animals on campus<\/li>\n<li>Flashlights\/head lamps, portable chargers for staff electronic devices (in case of another outage)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Texas-based Ending Community Homelessness Coalition has created a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.austinecho.org\/pit-2021-alternatives\/\">full list of organizations<\/a> that are working to help the homeless in Austin and Travis County.<\/p>\n<p>Maximize Hope is an organization that is <a href=\"https:\/\/givebutter.com\/MaxedHope\">raising money<\/a> to provide homeless people with hotel rooms in the Austin area.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/frontsteps.org\/who-we-are\/\">Front Steps<\/a> leads the only AmeriCorps program in Texas that is focused solely on homelessness. It &nbsp;is providing warming centers and information for people to find safe shelter. They are accepting <a href=\"https:\/\/frontsteps.org\/\">donations<\/a> and also have an <a href=\"https:\/\/frontsteps.org\/get-involved\/\">Amazon wish list<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>They are also hosting a Blanket Drive with information on how to send blankets <a href=\"https:\/\/frontsteps.org\/get-involved\/annual-blanket-drive\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Out-of-state Americans can help by spreading awareness about warming centers and other hazards. This <a href=\"https:\/\/tdem.texas.gov\/warm\/\">map<\/a> details where people can find warming centers in their local areas in Texas.<\/p>\n<p>Spreading awareness for individuals experiencing harsh weather conditions can also be helpful.
