The 68-year-old actress appeared on a recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/redtabletalk\/videos\/kim-basinger-ireland-baldwin-living-with-anxiety-panic-attacks-phobias\/715861626264047\/\">episode<\/a> of Jada Pinkett Smith\u2019s \u201cRed Table Talk\u201d to discuss her interactions with Baldwin and how they didn\u2019t agree on co-parenting.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Basinger referred to her divorce as \u201cheavy-duty\u201d and \u201cvery out loud,\u201d the Daily Mail <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/tvshowbiz\/article-10761633\/Kim-Basinger-talks-heavy-duty-divorce-Alec-Baldwin.html\"><span>reported<\/span><\/a><span>. She and Baldwin were married for close to ten years, from 1993 until 2002. The two had a daughter, Ireland Basinger, who also appeared on \u201cRed Table Talk\u201d to discuss her father.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cParenting can be difficult, and Ireland having the anxiety issues that she\u2019s had, was that a difficult process with Alec, or were you guys able to kind of see eye to eye on how to handle it?\u201d Smith asked.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cEye to eye?\u201d Basinger replied with a smirk. \u201cNo. No, that was not \u2026 Alec\u2019s a funny one. We\u2019re all fine and we all get along, whatever. But he\u2019s been \u2026 he\u2019s a challenge.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWe\u2019ve had our challenges,\u201d the \u201cL.A. Confidential\u201d actress continued. \u201cAnd I don\u2019t think Alec was emotionally or mentally available for that kind of talk. Alec, you know, operates in a very different way in his life.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Ireland jumped in, explaining how her father\u2019s methods for managing stress are different from other people\u2019s.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cHe deals with anxiety greatly, but he\u2019s someone who grew up in a family that would suppress that as well, or tell him he\u2019s weak for feeling that way,\u201d the 26-year-old model explained.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThere\u2019s things I would go to my father for, but if I ever even tried to have this conversation in any way with him, I don\u2019t think he would be able to really absorb any of it,\u201d Ireland continued.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cHe can\u2019t really sympathize as much with it, but it\u2019s not his fault, and he\u2019s gotten way better. I mean, I think he really suppressed his anxiety, like up until pretty recently. He\u2019s really been dealing with things that kind of have been thrown at him. He\u2019s been forced to finally deal with these things,\u201d she concluded.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Ireland was likely referring to the fatal shooting on the set of the movie \u201cRust\u201d when Baldwin was holding a prop gun which discharged, striking and killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza. The fallout from the incident, for which Baldwin takes no blame, has been extreme.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The Daily Mail reported that Basinger and Baldwin split because of his \u201cshort temper and allegedly uncontrollable anger,\u201d according to her father.
