Ron DeSantis signed to\u00a0dissolve it in June 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The district, which was set up in 1967 and includes parts of two counties, can levy its own taxes and develop its own infrastructure. Its 2022 operating budget is more than $169 million, but how the needs of the area and its people in future is anyone\u2019s guess at this point.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/economy\/disney-reedy-creek-improvement-act\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>DESANTIS VS DISNEY: WHAT IS THE REEDY CREEK IMPROVEMENT ACT?<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>One issue identified so far are what will happen to planned expansion of a solar power project. If financing becomes an issue, the project could be placed on hold indefinitely.<\/p>\n<p>Another involves the district\u2019s firefighters\u2019 union, which represents nearly half of the 400 district employees. Union head Jon Shirey said he asked the board of supervisors to assure firefighters that their jobs and lifetime benefits are secure.<\/p>\n<div class=\"featured featured-video video-ct\">\n<div class=\"contain\">\n<div class=\"info\">\n<div class=\"caption\">\n<p>FOX Business&#8217; Ashley Webster has the details on &#8216;The Evening Edit.&#8217;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>So far, there has been no response to the union, but Reedy Creek board of supervisors member Donald Greer told The Associated Press that even the board is unsure of what effect the new legislation will have.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/politics\/disney-shareholder-ceo-chapek-political-crusades\"><strong><u>DISNEY SHAREHOLDER TELLS CEO CHAPEK TO STOP WASTING MONEY ON \u2018POLITICAL CRUSADES\u2019<\/u><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The district may have a response as soon as we know what it means, but I don\u2019t know if anybody knows what it means.
