We are making progress. The White House seems more open to it than ever before.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want our young people to realize that they can have a good future. One of the best, very best, top-of-the-list ways to do it is by canceling student debt, by getting rid of the $50,000, even going higher after that,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s remarks also came after CBS News <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/edokeefe\/status\/1519017885267636224\">initially reported<\/a> Wednesday that Biden told the Congressional Hispanic Caucus that he was \u201clooking at forgiving most federal student loan debt.\u201d CBS News later <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/biden-options-forgiving-student-loan-debt\/\">clarified<\/a> that Biden did not give a specific amount of debt he would forgive, nor did he say he would wipe out all student loan debt. Biden did, however, indicate that he was going to make a move to cancel some debt. Democratic California Representative Tony Cardenas told CBS that during the meeting, he reiterated that the Caucus supported Biden canceling up to $10,000 of student debt through executive action if Congress could not pass legislation doing so. In response, Biden reportedly told Cardenas, \u201cYou\u2019re going to like what I do on that, I\u2019m looking to do something on that and I think you\u2019re going to like what I do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-extends-pause-on-federal-student-loan-payments\">extended<\/a> the student loan repayment moratorium earlier this month through August 31. The freeze was expected to end on May 1. Progressive Democrats are still not satisfied. A group of House Democrats sent a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/house-democrats-push-biden-to-extend-student-loan-freeze-through-the-end-of-the-year\">letter<\/a> to Biden in March asking Biden to extend the pause through the end of the year, and Massachusetts Democratic Senator <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/not-everything-has-to-go-through-congress-elizabeth-warren-wants-biden-to-be-more-authoritarian-axe-student-debt\">Elizabeth Warren<\/a> insisted Sunday that Biden has the authority to forgive all of the more than $1.6 trillion in student loans held by borrowers.<\/p>\n<p><i>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies for breaking news, investigative reporting, sports, podcasts, in-depth analysis, books, and entertainment for a reason: because we believe in what we do.
