Charlie Baker is the most popular statewide executive, with a 74% approval rating, the polling firm <a href=\"https:\/\/morningconsult.com\/2022\/04\/28\/governor-approval-ratings-2022-election\/\">found<\/a>, following by Vermont Gov. Phil Scott and Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan. Morning Consult surveyed at least 601 registered voters in each state between Jan. 1 and March 31, with a margin of error of 1.4%.<\/p>\n<p>Kentucky Gov. Kay Ivey and Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon also polled in the top ten. In contrast, the five least popular governors are all Democrats, Morning Consult found. Kate <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/24\/oregon-kate-brown-outdoor-mask-mandate\/\">Brown<\/a> of Oregon is the least popular governor nationwide, with 41% approval and a -13% net rating. <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/25\/joe-manchin-approval-rating-jumps-most-of-any-senator\/\"><strong>(RELATED: Joe Manchin\u2019s Approval Rating Jumped The Most Of Any Senator In The Past Year)<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The average Republican governor has a 58% approval rating, and the average Democratic governor has 51% approval. Out of the eight governors that have approval ratings below 50%, six are Democrats. The two Republicans, Doug Ducey of Arizona and Tate <a href=\"https:\/\/mississippitoday.org\/2021\/02\/02\/will-gov-tate-reeves-polling-poorly-after-one-year-in-office-draw-a-serious-gop-challenger-in-2023\/\">Reeves<\/a> of Mississippi, are not running for re-election in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Congressional Republicans encouraged <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/15\/patrick-leahy-vermont-senator-since-1975-announces-retirement\/\">Scott<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/08\/maryland-governor-larry-hogan-declines-senate-run\/\">Hogan<\/a> to run for Senate in the 2022 midterms, although both ultimately declined to do so. Of the three most popular governors, only Scott is running for re-election in November. New Hampshire\u2019s Chris <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/09\/chris-sununu-new-hampshire-governor-senate\/\">Sununu<\/a>, the sixth-most popular governor, also declined entreaties from Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to run for the upper chamber.<\/p>\n<p>Thirty-six <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Gubernatorial_elections,_2022\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">governorships<\/a>, 20 held by Republicans and 16 held by Democrats, are up for grabs in November.
