Ron Johnson sent a letter Wednesday to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas demanding a list of answers over the new \u201cDisinformation Governance Board\u201d and slamming the board\u2019s leader, Nina Jankowicz.<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Caller first obtained the letter to Mayorkas in which Johnson points out that Jankowicz <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/27\/biden-official-nina-jankowicz-hunter-biden-laptop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">attempted<\/a> to discredit the Hunter Biden laptop story in the past and is now in charge of a disinformation board. Johnson says Jankowicz is a \u201cbeacon of misinformation online\u201d and mentioned that she has published multiple tweets \u201cfurthering the false media narrative\u201d about the Hunter Biden laptop.<\/p>\n<p>Both\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2022\/03\/30\/hunter-biden-china-laptop\/\">The Washington Post<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/03\/16\/us\/politics\/hunter-biden-tax-bill-investigation.html\">The New York Times<\/a> noted the authenticity of Hunter Biden\u2019s laptop in March 2022, more than a year after the Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF) first <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/10\/29\/cybersecurity-expert-authenticates-hunter-biden-burisma-email\/\">verified<\/a> it on October 29, 2020. The DCNF obtained a full copy of Hunter Biden\u2019s alleged laptop from former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani in 2020 and had the emails forensically verified as real.<\/p>\n<p>Just days before the DCNF verified the authenticity of the laptop, Jankowicz <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/wiczipedia\/status\/1319463138107031553\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tweeted<\/a>\u00a0about the laptop, saying it \u201cis a Russian influence op.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During the second presidential debate, Jankowicz sent out a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/wiczipedia\/status\/1319463138107031553\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tweet<\/a>\u00a0which said that Biden cited \u201c50 former natsec officials and 5 former CIA heads that believe the laptop is a Russian influence op.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/wiczipedia\/status\/939157661022674948\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tweet<\/a> from December 2017, Jankowicz also claimed the Steele dossier, which has been <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2019\/12\/09\/doj-watchdog-debunk-dossier\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">totally discredited<\/a>, was funded by Republicans. Michael Steele, the dossier\u2019s author, was never funded by Republicans. The Washington Post <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2017\/10\/24\/bombshell-report-clinton-campaign-and-dnc-funded-trump-dossier\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a> in October 2017 that Marc E. Elias, a lawyer for the Clinton campaign and DNC, and his law firm, Perkins Coie, hired Fusion GPS last April to investigate Donald Trump \u2014 something Jankowicz failed to mention.<\/p>\n<p>Jankowicz is <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/27\/biden-official-nina-jankowicz-hunter-biden-laptop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">currently a fellow<\/a> at the Wilson Center. On her <a href=\"https:\/\/wiczipedia.com\/about-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a>, she calls herself an \u201cinternationally-recognized expert on disinformation and democratization.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the letter, Johnson asked a number of questions about the \u201cDisinformation Governance Board\u201d:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"ff4\"><span class=\"a\">Provide the statute allowing DHS to create the Disi<span class=\"l6\">nformation Board, appoint board members<\/span><\/span><span class=\"a\">, and assign or hire staff.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"ff4\">How does DHS define <span class=\"a\">\u201cmisinformation\u201d?<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"ff4\">What does DHS consider to be\u00a0\u201cirregular migrati<span class=\"l7\">on\u201d?<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"ff4\">What does DHS consider to be\u00a0misi<span class=\"l6\">nformation about irregular migration?<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"ff4\">What DHS component or office is responsible for monitoring and collecting data on \u201cmisinf<span class=\"l6\">ormation\u201d?\u00a0How many staff are tasked wi<span class=\"l9\">th this assi<span class=\"l7\">gnment?
