Earlier this week, Garland told senators the case is being handled by the Department of Justice and there is no need for an independent investigation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe undeniable facts are that (a) there is a bulletproof case for the appointment of a special counsel under regulations that are supposed to bind the Justice Department, and (b) if the shoe were on the other foot, there is no way Democrats would indulge the pleas of a Republican attorney general,\u201d McCarthy wrote.<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy, author of the 2019 book \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Ball-Collusion-Election-Destroy-Presidency-ebook\/dp\/B083ZHCQ7G\">Ball of Collusion<\/a>,\u201d which detailed the Trump-Russia collusion hoax, wrote that he \u201cdespise[s]\u201d the institution of independent prosecutor. But with a growing number of damning revelations from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/hunter-biden\">Hunter Biden\u2019s<\/a> now-authenticated laptop about shady international business, the Biden administration\u2019s own DOJ must avoid the possibility or perception of interference.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office for the District of Delaware is currently investigating Hunter Biden, reportedly over tax issues that may involve huge, unreported payments from foreign sources while his father was vice president. David Weiss, the top federal prosecutor in the Delaware office, was an appointee of former President Trump.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe put the investigation into the hands of a Trump appointee from the previous administration, the U.S. attorney for the District of Delaware, and because you have me as attorney general who is committed to the independence of the justice department from any influence from the White House in criminal matters,\u201d Garland told senators in testimony Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>But McCarthy, who noted \u201cmillions of dollars allegedly poured into the Biden family, not just the president\u2019s son, from foreign sources tied to notoriously corrupt governments (Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Mexico) and authoritarian regimes that are hostile to the United States (China and Russia),\u201d called Garland\u2019s assurances \u201cspecious.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrust in Garland is not the issue,\u201d McCarthy wrote. \u201cThe conflict, and straightforward application of the regulation, take the matter out of the attorney general\u2019s hands.
