Elizabeth Warren even went so far as to claim Musk owning Twitter is \u201cdangerous for our democracy.\u201d The Washington Post also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/technology\/2022\/04\/27\/tech-regulation-biden-musk\/\">admitted<\/a> that \u201cDemocrats, Biden have limited power as Elon Musk buys Twitter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Throwing a fit about the ability to censor and suppress speech is a growing trend in Democrat politics. Leftist politicians <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/opinion\/obamas-partisan-disinformation-campaign\">past and present<\/a> have been heavily involved in efforts to smear their political enemies as \u201cthreats to democracy\u201d and label anything counter to their narrative as disinformation. <\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Screen-Shot-2022-04-27-at-10.48.48-AM-1024x485-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-271368\" width=\"-290\" height=\"-137\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Screen-Shot-2022-04-27-at-10.48.48-AM-1024x485-1.png 1024w, https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Screen-Shot-2022-04-27-at-10.48.48-AM-300x142.png 300w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Screen-Shot-2022-04-27-at-10.48.48-AM-768x364-1.png 768w, https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Screen-Shot-2022-04-27-at-10.48.48-AM.png 1170w\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>It\u2019s clear that censorship and control are now a fundamental part of Democrats\u2019 political platform, which is why they\u2019ve been openly at war with the First Amendment since Barack Obama was in office. <\/p>\n<h2>Senate Democrats Tried To Kill the First Amendment<\/h2>\n<p>During his 2010 State of the Union address, Obama<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2010\/01\/29\/us\/politics\/29scotus.html\"> issued a \u201crare\u201d<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/obamawhitehouse.archives.gov\/the-press-office\/remarks-president-state-union-address\">rebuke<\/a> of the Supreme Court\u2019s <em>Citizens United <\/em>ruling to the SCOTUS justices\u2019 faces. In a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court clarified that nonprofits and super-PACs could spend what they wanted on political speech so long as they were not directly coordinating with political campaigns. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith all due deference to separation of powers, last week the Supreme Court reversed a century of law that I believe will open the floodgates for special interests \u2014 including foreign corporations \u2014 to spend without limit in our elections,\u201d Obama said.<\/p>\n<p>While Justice Samuel Alito appeared to mutter that Obama\u2019s characterization of the decision was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/blogs\/politico-now\/2010\/01\/justice-alito-mouths-not-true-024608\">\u201cnot true,\u201d<\/a> the president begged for legislators to counter the high court\u2019s ruling with legislation \u201cthat helps to correct some of these problems.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Four years later in 2014, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid led a charge to repeal free speech protections by altering the First Amendment. New Mexico Sen. Tom Udall <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/113th-congress\/senate-joint-resolution\/19\/text\">formally proposed the amendment<\/a> but 45 other Senate Democrats gladly signed up to co-sponsor the legislation that would grant Congress unlimited regulatory powers over \u201cthe raising and spending of money and in-kind equivalents with respect to federal elections.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Democrats <a href=\"https:\/\/www.govinfo.gov\/content\/pkg\/CHRG-113shrg28401\/html\/CHRG-113shrg28401.htm\">hyped<\/a> the amendment as a means to \u201crestore democracy to the American people\u201d by limiting the control money had over American politics. Reid even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buzzfeednews.com\/article\/johnstanton\/harry-reid-backs-constitutional-amendment-to-limit-koch-brot\">admitted<\/a> the legislation was designed to target his political enemies like the Koch brothers. <\/p>\n<p>The leftist party was quick to carve out an exception for the corporate press. There was not, however, a caveat in the amendment stating that legislators would only target corporations, billionaires, and other \u201cbig money\u201d groups. <\/p>\n<p>Under Udall\u2019s amendment, every American\u2019s right to free speech was threatened. As Texas Sen. Ted Cruz <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/ted-cruz-the-democratic-assault-on-the-first-amendment-1401662112\">noted<\/a> in his 2014 analysis of the amendment, Democrats\u2019 coordinated assault on free speech would grant Congress unchecked \u201cpower to silence citizens.\u201d He listed some examples of what Congress could do \u201cif this amendment were adopted\u201d:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>Congress could prohibit the National Rifle Association from distributing voter guides letting citizens know politicians\u2019 records on the Second Amendment.<\/p>\n<p>Congress could prohibit the Sierra Club from running political ads criticizing politicians for their environmental policies.<\/p>\n<p>Congress could penalize pro-life (or pro-choice) groups for spending money to urge their views of abortion.<\/p>\n<p>Congress could prohibit labor unions from organizing workers (an in-kind expenditure) to go door to door urging voters to turn out.<\/p>\n<p>Congress could criminalize pastors making efforts to get their parishioners to vote.<\/p>\n<p>Congress could punish bloggers expending any resources to criticize the president.<\/p>\n<p>Congress could ban books, movies (watch out Michael Moore) and radio programs\u2014anything not deemed \u2018the press\u2019\u2014that might influence upcoming elections.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The amendment eventually failed but every single Senate Democrat present that day, 54 total, voted for it. As a whole, the Democrat Party saw no problems with trying to cancel the Constitution to better serve their power. <\/p>\n<h2>They Did It Before, They\u2019ll Do It Again<\/h2>\n<p>Sound familiar? Just last year, Democrats tried to pass their federal election takeover bill HR 1, which contained provisions that <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/05\/04\/democrats-rail-against-hate-speech-online-but-want-to-subsidize-politicians-who-spew-hate-speech-all-the-time\/\">\u201cwould also control what Americans and politicians say.\u201d<\/a> HR1 also failed but Democrats are still doing everything in their power to control the narrative.<\/p>\n<p>They disqualify and subdue politically inconvenient information such as Hunter Biden\u2019s laptop while amplifying fake information to push hoaxes, such as that Trump colluded with Russia to rig the 2016 election. They host \u201cdisinformation\u201d forums and talk about Republicans being a threat to our democracy all while calling for more censorship campaigns to silence Americans.<\/p>\n<p>Simply put, Democrats don\u2019t need Congress to alter the First Amendment for them to limit speech. As long as the left has Big Tech censors and the propaganda press on their side, they can still suppress speech they don\u2019t like and prop up narratives that they do. <\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why so many of them threw fits this week when news broke that billionaire Elon Musk won his bid to take over Twitter. Musk\u2019s plan to weed out Twitter\u2019s reckless political censorship is a threat to their regime.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1519073003933515776?s=20&#038;t=poPUWUY8nkOIGQNRfIEueg\">Musk\u2019s disgust<\/a> that a credentialed news organization was silenced by Twitter for reporting on what should have been the biggest story of the 2020 election cycle angers the left because <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/03\/30\/washington-post-new-york-times-deserve-no-credit-for-grudgingly-admitting-what-we-all-knew-about-hunter-biden-in-2020\/\">they don\u2019t regret throttling<\/a> the Hunter Biden laptop story at all. It worked, didn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t be surprised at Democrats calling for Americans to be muzzled. Censorship is a fundamental part of their party platform.
