John Kennedy grilled President Joe Biden\u2019s judicial nominee Nusrat Jahan Choudhury over her past statements on police during a Wednesday Senate Judiciary Committee hearing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/14\/john-kennedy-biden-nominee-jennifer-sung-kavanaugh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kennedy<\/a> repeatedly pressed Choudhury for saying that \u201ccops kill unarmed black men in America every single day\u201d while attending Princeton University to earn her Masters Public Administration degree.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSenator, I said it in my role as an advocate,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOh, so you didn\u2019t mean it,\u201d Kennedy pressed. Choudhury said she said it to make a \u201crhetorical point\u201d in her advocacy role.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo when you say something that\u2019s incorrect, it\u2019s okay to excuse it by saying \u2018oh, I was being an advocate?\u2019 What do you believe? Do you personally believe that cops kill unarmed black men every single day in America?\u201d Kennedy continued. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/02\/john-kennedy-three-biden-judicial-nominees-single-question\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: \u2018Afraid To Give Me An Answer?\u2019: John Kennedy Presses Three Biden Judicial Nominees To Answer A Single Question)\u00a0<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cSenator, I believe that law enforcement have an important and challenging job in this country\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s not what you said though, councilor,\u201d the senator interjected. \u201cI just think that\u2019s an extraordinary statement to make with no data to back that up. No, none whatsoever. There\u2019s no basis for you to be saying that and you knew it then and you know it now. How can anyone possibly believe that you\u2019re gonna be unbiased on the federal bench?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/16\/john-kennedy-nina-morrison-biden-nominee-district-judge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">nominee<\/a> said her record indicates that she has worked \u201ccollaboratively\u201d with officers across the country \u201cto solve complex problems to promote constitutional, effective and safe policing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour record shows that you believe cops are guilty until proven innocent,\u201d Kennedy said. \u201cYour record shows that if a cop shoots a criminal, it\u2019s the cop\u2019s fault. And if a criminal shoots a cop, it\u2019s the gun\u2019s fault. I\u2019ve read your record and I don\u2019t appreciate you not answering the questions straight up. I would respect you a lot more if you would just tell us what you believe and not try to hide it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2021, nearly 1,055 individuals were killed by police nationwide, 15% of these civilians being unarmed, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/investigations\/2022\/02\/09\/fatal-police-shootings-record-2021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according<\/a> to Washington Post tracking data. A study found that 34% of unarmed civilians are black, though reiterated that not all cases of police shooting an unarmed individual are unjustified, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.manhattan-institute.org\/verbruggen-fatal-police-shootings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according<\/a> to the Manhattan Institute.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Republican Louisiana Sen.
