Elon Musk just bought Twitter! We got a movie star cut type of a superhero.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Prior to Rogan being alerted of the news, he was speaking about cancel culture. He began, \u201cMy feeling on all this stuff that\u2019s going on about even cancel culture, what people are talking about is cancel culture; it\u2019s people realizing that they have the ability to affect things around them, especially if they act in groups.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow, I\u2019m not saying it\u2019s good, but when people realize that they can organize a campaign to attack a politician or attack a celebrity or attack someone they feel like is deserving of that, and then they spend a lot of time online doing that, I\u2019m not saying it\u2019s good, but it\u2019s fascinating,\u201d he commented. \u201cIt\u2019s fascinating because it\u2019s a never before available portal for expressing yourself and I think just like everything else in life there\u2019s this bad aspect of things that happen and then there\u2019s a correction that may at least potentially be good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I think that way when I think of all this cancel culture s*** and all this criticism and all the chaos, the infighting between the right and the left and the f***ing battle for control of the government, all of that stuff, when I look at all that stuff I say, this is a strange time for the processing of information, the distribution of information, it\u2019s the Wild West and no one knows what the f*** to do,\u201d he continued. \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of people who are trying to apply traditional models to how to handle things today and it\u2019s not working.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLike here\u2019s the thing, there\u2019s so much culture shifting happening on the internet but nobody controls the internet,\u201d he noted. \u201cThat\u2019s what\u2019s so crazy, so for the first time in the history of human beings, regular people, just people people, who got a YouTube channel, who get a f***ing Twitter page, have a massive say, a massive say, in the way people think and feel about things. I think ultimately that\u2019s going to be a good thing but we have rough water ahead. That\u2019s what\u2019s going on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Turning to censorship, he stated, \u201cAnd all the people that are calling for censorship, you\u2019re only calling for censorship for people that don\u2019t agree with you. But there\u2019s going to be people that don\u2019t agree with you and if they get the f***ing reins, then that s*** comes back around at you and that is how dictators form. That\u2019s how they take control of governments. Censorship is f***ing dangerous \u2019cause it\u2019s a mental form of dictatorship. You\u2019re deciding what people can and can\u2019t do and you\u2019re deciding it based on your own ideology.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow do I know if you\u2019ve examined it?\u201d he asked rhetorically. \u201cHow do I know if you\u2019re introspective? How do I know if you\u2019ve done the work? How do I know if you\u2019re being honest about yourself, about your failures, your successes, your kindness and your weakness, your strengths, your flaws? How do I know? I don\u2019t f***ing know. But I do know this: if you want to censor people, most likely you haven\u2019t, most likely you haven\u2019t done the work. And this is where we find ourselves with Elon Musk about to buy Twitter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Then Rogan was informed that Musk had indeed both Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOh s***, oh s***! Elon Musk just bought Twitter!\u201d he chortled. \u201cWe got a movie star cut type of a superhero. It\u2019s like a movie. Like if you had a movie and there was a guy who was like a hero in the movie who happened to be a billionaire who does wild s***. Like makes his own rockets and drills under the city with electric cars and then buys Twitter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He quoted from a news article, \u201cElon Musk agrees to buy Twitter in a $44 billion deal. Agreement to take social network private marks the close of dramatic courtship.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHere\u2019s why that\u2019s going to be interesting,\u201d he opined. \u201cFirst of all, he believes free speech is important, and not just important, vital for a democracy, for a functioning democracy. And I agree with that.\u00a0And what\u2019s interesting about this is we\u2019re \u2013 we found out some things about things about Twitter and one of the things they do is shadowban people. They make it so that your content, whatever you put out, has less impact. It has less engagement. They limit your ability to express yourself. They ban accounts and they ban accounts if the account says something that they don\u2019t agree with.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the account says something that violates what they believe \u2013 you can\u2019t deadname someone,\u201d he explained. \u201cLike Bruce Jenner was Bruce Jenner his whole life and then he became Caitlyn Jenner and if you call Caitlyn by that other name, you\u2019re deadnaming her. And they\u2019ll ban you; they\u2019ll ban you for life. So me even saying his name as a name, there\u2019s nothing wrong with that name; it\u2019s how he won the Olympics; that was the name of the guy on the Wheaties box. That was the name. But by me saying that name \u2013 people write articles when I do it \u2013 like. \u2018Oh, he\u2019s deadnaming her.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re talking like you\u2019re in a cult, okay\u201d he snapped. \u201cI\u2019m saying a f***ing name and it was a name that someone used for a long time. It\u2019s not meant in any way, shape or form to be disrespectful. That will get you banned for life from Twitter.\u00a0 That\u2019s crazy ideological s***. That\u2019s what that is.
