Since then, Harris has <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/23\/kamala-harris-trip-border-texas-mexico-trump-biden\/\">visited<\/a> the U.S.-Mexico border just once and <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/29\/white-house-kamala-harris-border-czar-immigration\/\">derided<\/a> calls for her to do so as \u201cpolitical games.\u201d The White House later attempted to amend Harris\u2019 role as a foreign policy assignment and effort to address the \u201croot causes\u201d of migration, but she faced bipartisan <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/08\/harris-south-america-guatemala-trump\/\">criticism<\/a> for her handling of a June 2021 trip to Mexico and <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/09\/biden-harris-white-house-mexico-immigration\/\">Guatemala<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Harris\u2019 team even requested that she be moved off of the immigration crisis and put in charge of \u201coverseeing relations with the Nordic countries,\u201d according to a book excerpt <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/news\/biden-left-gop-senators-taken-aback-with-harsh-dismissal-of-harris-during-legislative-negotiations-new-book\/\">published<\/a> by Mediaite. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/01\/harris-team-panicked-biden-immigration-border-mexico-illegal\/\">(RELATED: Kamala Harris\u2019 Team Reportedly Panicked After Biden Gave Her Immigration Assignment)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Such \u201ca low-risk diplomatic assignment \u2026 might have helped Harris get adjusted to the international stage in welcoming venues like Oslo and Copenhagen,\u201d authors Jonathan Martin and Alex Burns write. However, Harris\u2019 aides were reportedly \u201crejected\u201d and \u201cprivately mocked\u201d by White House staffers.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\u201cBiden reportedly left Republican senators stunned during legislative negotiations when he strongly shut down Harris, who herself had recently been in the U.S. Senate.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/fqLkeBWzBa\">https:\/\/t.co\/fqLkeBWzBa<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Logan Ratick (@Logan_Ratick) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Logan_Ratick\/status\/1519059134284505091?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 26, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The immigration episode was not the only time Biden or his staffers were critical of Harris, however. During negotiations with Senate Republicans over the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/04\/bipartisan-infrastructure-package-kyrsten-sinema-joe-biden\/\">bipartisan infrastructure bill<\/a>, Harris reportedly suggested that Congress issue \u201ca larger package than the one Republicans seemed to have in mind.\u201d Harris\u2019 proposal would have included more social spending, according to Martin and Burns.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBiden dismissed her comment immediately,\u201d they write, explaining \u201cthat even the Republican senators were taken aback\u201d by the president\u2019s remarks.<\/p>\n<p>Harris and First Lady Jill Biden also reportedly have a fraught relationship, owing to Harris\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2019\/06\/27\/harris-biden-school-busing-tears\/\">attacks<\/a> on Joe Biden over integration and busing during the 2020 Democratic presidential primaries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are millions of people in the United States, she began.
