Version: 4.0.47--><div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dw-wp-production.imgix.net\/2022\/04\/Untitled-design-59.png?w=1200&#038;h=800&#038;ixlib=react-9.3.0\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\" alt=\"image\" \/><\/div>\n<p>Leftist tears were literally flowing at Twitter headquarters on Monday after Elon Musk\u2019s offer to buy the social media platform was accepted as one high-ranking employee reportedly broke down and cried during a staff meeting about the purchase.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, Politico <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2022\/04\/26\/twitters-top-lawyer-reassures-staff-cries-during-meeting-about-musk-takeover-00027931\">reported<\/a> that Twitter\u2019s top lawyer, Vijaya Gadde, called a virtual meeting among policy and legal teams that she oversees to discuss how Musk would impact the company.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGadde cried during the meeting as she expressed concerns about how the company could change, according to three people familiar with the meeting,\u201d Politico reported. \u201cShe acknowledged that there are significant uncertainties about what the company will look like under Musk\u2019s leadership.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Politico also noted that \u201cGadde, who has worked at Twitter since 2011, is the key executive charged with overseeing Twitter\u2019s trust and safety, legal and public policy functions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The attorney is apparently so well respected within the company that she is seen \u201cinternally as Twitter\u2019s \u2018moral authority,&#8217;\u201d Politico added.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-twitter-announces-deal-with-elon-musk\">reported<\/a> that Musk bought the social media company at $54.20 per share in a deal valued at $44 billion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe transaction was unanimously approved by Twitter\u2019s board and is expected to close this year subject to the approval of Twitter\u2019s shareholders and other regulatory approvals,\u201d The Daily Wire added.<\/p>\n<p>For his part, all Musk has promised to do so far is to provide more opportunities for free speech while advocating transparency regarding algorithms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFree speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated,\u201d Musk <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/elon-musk-releases-statement-after-taking-over-twitter\">said in a statement<\/a> on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI also want to make Twitter better than ever by enhancing the product with new features, making the algorithms open source to increase trust, defeating the spam bots, and authenticating all humans,\u201d he added. \u201cTwitter has tremendous potential \u2013 I look forward to working with the company and the community of users to unlock it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gadde\u2019s reported meltdown is reminiscent of a recent satirical sketch produced by The Babylon Bee that featured a distraught fictional Twitter employee seeking therapy due to Musk\u2019s Twitter bid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s terrible. I can\u2019t even,\u201d the woman told the therapist in the video. \u201cI have literally lost my ability to even.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After confirming that the woman didn\u2019t experience a true tragic loss, like a death in the family or being misgendered, the therapist finally gets her to open up about the source of her troubles, The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/babylon-bee-shares-spoof-of-twitter-employee-seeking-therapy-amid-elon-musk-takeover\">reported<\/a>. The employee continued to freak out because Musk made a bid to purchase Twitter outright, and she\u2019s afraid the deal could happen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat is it about Elon buying Twitter that actually bothers you?\u201d the therapist asks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf he buys our free speech platform, people will be able to have free speech on our platform\u201d the woman cried.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, that\u2019s just stupid,\u201d the therapist responded.<\/p>\n<p>The sketch can be seen here:<\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p>It\u2019s unclear if Musk plans to clean house of old employees like Gadde, but Politico also noted that the attorney appears to be at odds with his mission of free speech.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m often inspired by the vigorous debates on controversial issues that occur on Twitter, but I\u2019ve also been seriously troubled by the plight of some of our users who are completely overwhelmed by those who are trying to silence healthy discourse in the name of free expression,\u201d Gadde wrote in a 2015 Washington Post opinion column Politico noted. \u201cAt times, this takes the form of hateful speech in tweets directed at women or minority groups; at others, it takes the form of threats aimed to intimidate those who take a stand on issues.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies for breaking news, investigative reporting, sports, podcasts, in-depth analysis, books, and entertainment for a reason: because we believe in what we do.
