Greg Abbott\u2019s effort to bus migrants to Washington, D.C. is just \u201ca drop in the bucket.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Paxton, who was speaking to reporters after presenting his case against the Biden administration\u2019s efforts to end the \u2018Remain in Mexico\u2019 policy, said that Abbott\u2019s actions have nevertheless brought attention to Texas\u2019 immigration issues. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/14\/migrants-texas-abbott-dc-homeless\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Migrants Bused In From Texas Greeted By DC\u2019s Rampant Homelessness)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a drop in the bucket, compared to the people coming across our border, but it does call attention in a very legitimate way to the suffering that we have on the border of Texas,\u201d Paxton told reporters.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Just a bit ago: AGs from Texas and Missouri walked out of the SCOTUS after arguing against the Biden administration\u2019s efforts to end \u2018Remain in Mexico\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/YpVuNir2MI\">pic.twitter.com\/YpVuNir2MI<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jennie Taer (@JennieSTaer) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JennieSTaer\/status\/1518995366665928710?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 26, 2022<\/a> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Abbott pledged on April 8 to bus <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/14\/migrants-texas-abbott-dc-homeless\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">migrants<\/a> to the nation\u2019s capital after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/01\/cdc-title-42-end-may-23-border-crisis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">announced<\/a> Title 42, the pandemic-related policy used to quickly expel migrants, would end May 23. Many of the buses, however, have been fairly <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/15\/texas-abbott-migrants-dc-border\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">empty<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Although each bus can accommodate 40 people, the first few buses only had a dozen or a couple dozen, Abbott\u2019s office previously <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/04\/15\/texas-abbott-migrants-dc-border\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">told<\/a> the Daily Caller News Foundation<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, one is dealing with the federal government, this case is dealing with the federal government, their obligation to either detain before the hearing or to deport. You know, we have our hands tied, our governors have their hands tied. I don\u2019t think it should be that way,\u201d Paxton said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have this case Arizona V. U.S. that gives the government most of the authority for dealing with the border crisis and for dealing with border security, and it limits our ability as a state to do things that maybe we would otherwise do to protect our citizens.
