Twitter has tremendous potential \u2013 I look forward to working with the company and the community of users to unlock it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Twitter <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/elon-musk-releases-statement-after-taking-over-twitter\/\">acknowledged<\/a> the deal in a statement of its own, too. \u201cUnder the terms of the agreement, Twitter stockholders will receive\u00a0$54.20\u00a0in cash for each share of Twitter common stock that they own upon closing of the proposed transaction,\u201d the company said. \u201cThe purchase price represents a 38% premium to Twitter\u2019s closing stock price on\u00a0April 1, 2022, which was the last trading day before Mr. Musk disclosed his approximately 9% stake in Twitter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Many conservatives championed Musk acquiring Twitter as a win for free speech. Outkick founder\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/absolutely-monstrous-win-for-free-speech-conservatives-cheer-musk-buying-twitter\">Clay Travis<\/a>, for example, tweeted, \u201cElon Musk has officially purchased Twitter for $54.20 a share. Absolutely monstrous win for free speech on social media. Feast on the left wing blue check tears as they realize their rigged marketplace of ideas is dying. Glorious.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On the flip side, some on the Left were outraged by the deal. Actress and \u201cwoke\u201d activist\u00a0Jameela Jamil <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/hate-bigotry-and-misogyny-jameela-jamil-exits-hell-platform-after-musk-twitter-purchase\">tweeted<\/a>,\u00a0\u201cAh he got twitter. I would like this to be my what lies here as my last tweet. I\u00a0fear this free speech bid is going to help this hell platform reach its final form of totally lawless hate, bigotry, and misogyny.
