Technology Group, fell 13% on Monday to close at $35.71,\u201d CNN <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/04\/25\/investing\/twitter-trump-spac-elon-musk\/index.html\">reported<\/a>. \u201cSince the final trading day before Musk surprised Wall Street by saying he had amassed a stake in Twitter, Digital World has lost 44% of its value.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Twitter announced earlier in the day that it had entered a definitive agreement to be acquired by Elon Musk for $54.20 per share in a deal valued at $44 billion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnder the terms of the agreement, Twitter stockholders will receive $54.20 in cash for each share of Twitter common stock that they own upon closing of the proposed transaction,\u201d Twitter said in a statement. \u201cThe purchase price represents a 38% premium to Twitter\u2019s closing stock price on April 1, 2022, which was the last trading day before Mr. Musk disclosed his approximately 9% stake in Twitter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The company announced that Musk secured $25.5 billion of fully committed debt and margin loan financing and is providing a $21 billion equity commitment.<\/p>\n<p>Musk released a statement when the sale was announced that outlined his mission for the company.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cFree speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated,\u201d Musk said in a statement. \u201cI also want to make Twitter better than ever by enhancing the product with new features, making the algorithms open source to increase trust, defeating the spam bots, and authenticating all humans.
