First of all, much like other Big Tech-controlled platforms, Twitter is a censorship cesspool operated by Silicon Valley elites who are prone to radical groupthink. It\u2019s an app laced with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pnas.org\/doi\/10.1073\/pnas.2025334119\">manipulative algorithms<\/a> and politically motivated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vice.com\/en\/article\/43paqq\/twitter-is-shadow-banning-prominent-republicans-like-the-rnc-chair-and-trump-jrs-spokesman\">shadowbanning<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Musk can try to serve justice by reinstating <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/03\/21\/the-babylon-bees-twitter-resistance-is-a-lesson-in-taking-on-tech-tyrants\/\">The Babylon Bee<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/03\/22\/twitter-bans-babylon-bee-staff-charlie-kirk-for-saying-men-are-men-and-mocking-censorship\/\">every other account<\/a> that fell victim to Twitter\u2019s reckless political censorship. He can add an edit button and give me a blue checkmark, but that won\u2019t change how the corrupt press or other Big Tech companies treat speech that they don\u2019t like.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of free speech, Twitter is far from the pro-First Amendment social media company that it <a href=\"https:\/\/help.twitter.com\/en\/rules-and-policies\/defending-and-respecting-our-users-voice\">was ostensibly created to be<\/a> and I\u2019m personally not convinced that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/12\/07\/elon-musk-ceo-is-made-up-title-prefers-tesla-technoking.html\">\u201cTechno-king of Tesla,\u201d<\/a> whose success is sustained by government subsidies, has the power to fix it. <\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s also a platform that induces and profits off of doom-scrolling, which leads to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/technology\/archive\/2017\/07\/how-twitter-fuels-anxiety\/534021\/\">heightened anxiety<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esquire.com\/lifestyle\/health\/a13083796\/twitter-mental-health\/\">worsening mental health<\/a>. The only difference between Twitter and Facebook or Instagram is that Twitter doesn\u2019t pretend to be a place where users can \u201cstay connected with family and friends\u201d and you only have 280 characters to voice an unoriginal thought. <\/p>\n<p>Twitter may occasionally house cute puppy pictures or amazingly funny tweets from <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/gregkellyusa\">Greg Kelly<\/a> but ultimately, it\u2019s an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buzzfeed.com\/daves4\/60-dumbest-twitter-all-time\">echo chamber for stupidity<\/a> of all kinds that encourages digital warfare, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=6f4oKjlLYK0\">mean tweets<\/a>, and endless <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theringer.com\/tech\/2018\/3\/8\/17093982\/twitter-bot-problem\">spamming by bots<\/a>. I mean, even the former Twitter guy admitted that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/2018\/3\/1\/17067070\/twitter-tweets-abuse-harassment-health-measurement-safety-jack-dorsey\">his creation is crawling with abominable content and behavior<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>To put it simply, Twitter is unsalvagable. Even if Musk manages to replace current <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/11\/29\/twitter-ceo-jack-dorsey-steps-down-makes-way-for-new-censorship-king-parag-agrawal\/\">CEO Parag Agrawal<\/a> and clean house of all the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/technology\/2022\/04\/14\/twitter-employees-elon-musk\/\">fragile employees<\/a>, an eery, anti-free speech culture still drives the corporate reporters, media outlets, Democrat politicians, and many of the trolls who use the platform.<\/p>\n<p>It may seem pessimistic but, in the end, the destruction of Twitter is the best thing for all of us.
