A spokesperson for Pfizer confirmed that the company is delisting notes, not shares.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>Fact Check:\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Pfizer is one of three pharmaceutical companies that has developed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/emergency-preparedness-and-response\/coronavirus-disease-2019-covid-19\/comirnaty-and-pfizer-biontech-covid-19-vaccine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Food and Drug Administration-authorized<\/a> COVID-19 vaccine. Now, a post shared on Facebook claims the company is pulling its shares from the NYSE.<\/p>\n<p>The post includes a screenshot of a March 7\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/78003\/000087666122000258\/xslF25X02\/primary_doc.xml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">document<\/a> that appears to show Pfizer applying to have its <span>\u201c0.250% Notes due 2022\u201d delisted from the NYSE. \u201cWhy have (sic) Pfizer just applied to the New York Stock Exchange to delist all their shares??\u201d the post\u2019s caption reads. \u201cCould it be linked to the court order to release all safety data, that\u2019s clearly showing myriad adverse events 30x the rate of the traditional flu vaccine?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The document does not show or suggest that all of Pfizer\u2019s shares are being delisted. Pfizer\u2019s stock does not appear on the NASDAQ\u2019s suspended or delisting <a href=\"https:\/\/listingcenter.nasdaq.com\/IssuersPendingSuspensionDelisting.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">webpage<\/a>. Likewise, no such announcement about the delisting of the company\u2019s shares appears on Pfizer\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pfizer.com\/news\/press-releases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">press release archives<\/a>. The company\u2019s shares remain <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/PFE\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">listed<\/a> on the NYSE for purchase as of press time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>A spokesperson for Pfizer told Check Your Fact via email that the document featured in the post is related to the delisting of Pfizer\u2019s \u201c0.250% notes\u201d due in 2022, which had been paid in full on the date the document was listed. A note is a \u201clegal document that serves as an IOU from a borrower to a creditor or an investor,\u201d according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/terms\/n\/note.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Investopedia<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe 0.250% Notes due 2022 were euro denominated notes that were paid in full on March 7, 2022 in accordance with their terms and maturity date,\u201d said the spokesperson. \u201cAs a result, the 0.250% Notes due 2022 are no longer outstanding and thus are delisted from the NYSE. Pfizer\u2019s\u00a0Common\u00a0Stock (\u2018PFE\u2019) continues to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2022\/02\/25\/fact-check-covid-vaccine-safety-fda\/\">(RELATED: Did The FDA Accuse Pfizer Of Misrepresenting The Safety Of Its COVID-19 Vaccine?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is not the first time Pfizer has been targeted with misinformation. Check Your Fact previously <a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2022\/02\/25\/fact-check-covid-vaccine-safety-fda\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">debunked<\/a> a claim from February 2022 that claimed the Food and Drug Administration had accused the company of misrepresenting its COVID-19 vaccine.
