Joe Manchin\u2019s approval rating has increased 17 points among constituents over the past year, the largest jump of any sitting senator.<\/p>\n<p>Manchin\u2019s approval rating currently sits at 57%, a Morning Consult poll conducted from Jan. 31-March 31 <a href=\"https:\/\/morningconsult.com\/2022\/04\/25\/joe-manchins-approach-paying-off\/\">reveals<\/a>. Republicans in particular were key to Manchin\u2019s increase, with 69% approving of his performance. Fifty percent of independents and 44% of Democrats approve of Manchin\u2019s performance, the poll found, a ten-point drop in Democrat support.<\/p>\n<p>A poll conducted over the first quarter of 2021 found Manchin\u2019s approval rating among constituents at 40%.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">NEW: Over the past year, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Sen_JoeManchin?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Sen_JoeManchin<\/a> has seen the largest job approval rating improvement of any senator.<\/p>\n<p>It places him among America\u2019s 10 most popular senators for the first time since Biden took office. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/PXyvmdLlL2\">https:\/\/t.co\/PXyvmdLlL2<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/MPq40huOUt\">pic.twitter.com\/MPq40huOUt<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Eli Yokley (@eyokley) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/eyokley\/status\/1518598149081808896?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 25, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Manchin\u2019s 22% net approval rating makes him the eighth-most popular sitting senator, and the second-most popular Democrat, behind Patrick Leahy of Vermont. Republican John Thune of South Dakota is the most popular sitting senator, the poll found, with 62% support and a 34% net approval rating.<\/p>\n<p>Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky is the least popular sitting senator, with only 33% support and a -27% net approval rating.<\/p>\n<p>After voting to support the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan and the $1.1 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, Manchin dealt the Biden administration a pair of major setbacks. He broke off negotiations on the Build Back Better social spending package after repeatedly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/joe-manchin-ron-klain-biden-relationship-2022-1\">clashing<\/a> with White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain and left-wing <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/28\/omar-manchin-sinema-republicans-in-our-own-party\/\">members<\/a> of the House of Representatives. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/11\/01\/cori-bushs-new-strategy-win-joe-manchin-appears-accusing-him-racism\/\">(RELATED: Cori Bush\u2019s New Strategy To Win Over Joe Manchin Appears To Be Accusing Him Of Racism)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In addition, Manchin has repeatedly made <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/01\/19\/manchin-reaffirms-support-filibuster-senate-vote-abolishing-it\/\">clear<\/a> his opposition to <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/01\/11\/joe-manchin-filibuster-joe-biden\/\">eliminating<\/a> the filibuster to pass an elections nationalization package, despite pressure from President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and other top Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>Manchin <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/United_States_Senate_election_in_West_Virginia,_2018\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">won<\/a> reelection by three points in 2018, and represents the most Republican-leaning state of any Democrat in the upper chamber.
