The ramp feature will be available for public use on weekends.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Amazon Vice President of Global Real Estate and Facilities John Schoettler thanked \u201cour Arlington neighbors and the County Board\u201d after the Arlington authorities\u2019 decision.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWith the County Board\u2019s approval, we look forward to continuing our work with the community as we take the next steps on this journey to build an integrated, innovative, and sustainable second headquarters in Arlington, Virginia,\u201d he said in a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/wjla.com\/news\/local\/amazons-headquarters-hq2-the-helix-arlington-crystal-city-of-arlington-arlington-county-proposal-for-hq2-goes-before-arlington-county-board-for-final-vote\"><span>statement<\/span><\/a><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Three years ago, Amazon made headlines over its nationwide search for its \u201cHQ2.\u201d America\u2019s major cities pitched various proposals to draw the facility and its thousands of new jobs to their regions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Amazon at one point considered moving to New York City; however, the plans were <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/amazon-drops-nyc-much-vaunted-second-headquarters-josh-hammer?%3Futm_source=facebook&#038;utm_medium=social&#038;utm_campaign=benshapiro\"><span>canceled<\/span><\/a><span> after \u201ca number of state and local politicians have made it clear that they oppose our presence and will not work with us to build the type of relationships that are required to go forward with the project we and many others envisioned in Long Island City.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Among those politicians was Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who celebrated the news of Amazon passing over her own congressional district. \u201cAnything is possible: today was the day a group of dedicated, everyday New Yorkers &#038; their neighbors defeated Amazon\u2019s corporate greed, its worker exploitation, and the power of the richest man in the world,\u201d she said on Twitter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The progressive lawmaker faced harsh <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/thanks-nothing-aoc-massive-billboard-nyc-blasts-ryan-saavedra\"><span>criticism<\/span><\/a><span> following her celebration of Amazon\u2019s move. Job Creators Network \u2014 a nonpartisan organization founded by entrepreneurs like Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus \u2014 purchased a billboard in New York City slamming her for killing jobs and economic activity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201c25,000 Lost NYC Jobs, $4 Billion in Lost Wages, $12 Billion in Lost Economic Activity for NY, Thanks For Nothing, AOC!\u201d the sign said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>More recently, Amazon <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/amazon-relocates-employees-from-seattle-office-amid-crime-spike-fentanyl-crisis\"><span>relocated<\/span><\/a><span> 1,800 employees from its Seattle office amid concerns over increases in violent crime.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cGiven recent incidents near 3rd and Pine, we\u2019re providing employees currently at that location with alternative office space elsewhere,\u201d an Amazon spokesman told <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/komonews.com\/news\/local\/amazon-temporarily-relocating-workers-from-office-at-3rd-and-pine-due-to-crime-concerns\"><span>KOMO News<\/span><\/a><span>. \u201cWe are hopeful that conditions will improve and that we will be able to bring employees back to this location when it is safe to do so.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies for breaking news, investigative reporting, sports, podcasts, in-depth analysis, books, and entertainment for a reason: because we believe in what we do.
