Their ignorance of the issue was illustrated on Acosta\u2019s Saturday show as the duo accused Florida Republicans of hypocritically\u00a0\u201ccancelling\u201d Disney by revoking its special tax status.<\/p>\n<p>Using the left\u2019s false framing of Florida\u2019s new parental rights law, Acosta was sure he has seen Republican hypocrisy, \u201cAna, I have to talk to you about what\u2019s going on in your state of Florida. The governor there, Ron DeSantis, is punishing\u00a0Disney for opposing this\u00a0so-called Don&#8217;t Say Gay law.\u00a0Aren&#8217;t Republicans supposed to\u00a0be against cancel culture?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Acosta was also confused why any politician would choose to go after Disney, \u201cThe other thing that stands out\u00a0to me, as somebody who&#8217;s been to\u00a0Disney World a lot with my\u00a0family, I just can&#8217;t imagine a\u00a0Florida politician going after\u00a0Walt Disney World.\u00a0What do you make of all this?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Navarro naturally agreed, calling the move \u201creally insane.\u201d\u00a0She then wondered how anyone who considers themselves a Republican could possibly support the move, \u201cthe CEO issued\u00a0a statement about a bill that\u00a0many of his employees had huge\u00a0concerns about.\u00a0He didn&#8217;t show up at the capitol\u00a0with an army of Mickey Mouses\u00a0dressed in rainbow platform\u00a0heels.\u00a0He made a statement.\u00a0And that statement should be\u00a0covered by freedom of speech.\u00a0And so if you are a pro-freedom\u00a0of speech, against canceling,\u00a0pro-business Republican, I don&#8217;t\u00a0know how you justify hostage\u00a0taking.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Navarro also equated the decision with \u201cpolitical hostage taking and political blackmail for speaking up\u00a0about a concern of their\u00a0employees.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Later on in her rant, Navarro would accuse Republicans of being hypocrites because Disney has traditionally been one of their biggest donors and \u201cIn the meantime, they haven&#8217;t\u00a0done a damn thing to reform\u00a0condo laws so that condo\u00a0buildings don&#8217;t collapse in the\u00a0middle of the night, killing and trapping people inside.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For ill-informed\u00a0at CNN, Disney isn\u2019t cancelled. The governor there, Ron DeSantis, is punishing\u00a0Disney for opposing this\u00a0so-called Don&#8217;t Say Gay law.\u00a0Aren&#8217;t Republicans supposed to\u00a0be against cancel culture?\u00a0What do\u2014what do&#8211; you make of what&#8217;s been\u00a0happening with this?\u00a0We&#8217;re showing the video right\u00a0now.\u00a0He&#8217;s surrounded by all of these\u00a0children.\u00a0The other thing that stands out\u00a0to me, as somebody who&#8217;s been to\u00a0Disney World a lot with my\u00a0family, I just can&#8217;t imagine a\u00a0Florida politician going after\u00a0Walt Disney World.\u00a0What do you make of all this?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>ANA NAVARRO: It&#8217;s really\u2014it\u2019s really&#8211; insane.\u00a0It\u2019s, as a Floridian, I&#8217;m frankly\u00a0horrified by the environment\u00a0this creates.\u00a0Listen, it&#8217;s not like Walt\u00a0Disney World waged war against\u00a0this legislation.\u00a0What they-what they&#8211; did was the CEO issued\u00a0a statement about a bill that\u00a0many of his employees had huge\u00a0concerns about.<\/p>\n<p>He didn&#8217;t show up at the capitol\u00a0with an army of Mickey Mouses\u00a0dressed in rainbow platform\u00a0heels.\u00a0He made a statement.\u00a0And that statement should be\u00a0covered by freedom of speech.\u00a0And so if you are a pro-freedom\u00a0of speech, against canceling,\u00a0pro-business Republican, I don&#8217;t\u00a0know how you justify hostage\u00a0taking.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Political hostage taking and\u00a0political blackmail against a\u00a0corporation for speaking up\u00a0about a concern of their\u00a0employees.\u00a0Disney is one of the largest\u00a0private employers in the state\u00a0of Florida.\u00a0It&#8217;s got thousands, tens of\u00a0thousands of employees raising\u00a0families in this state who care\u00a0about what happens in their schools.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And, you know, it&#8217;s such\u00a0hypocrisy and it&#8217;s such\u00a0insanity.\u00a0It doesn&#8217;t make political sense.\u00a0It doesn&#8217;t make economic sense.\u00a0Because\u2014because&#8211; guess who&#8217;s going to get\u00a0stuck with the tax bill,\u00a0now after going away and\u00a0eradicating the special taxing\u00a0authority.\u00a0The residents of Osceola and\u00a0Orange County.\u00a0They should be paying very close\u00a0attention to this, but it&#8217;s also meant to send a\u00a0chilling message to the entire\u00a0private sector and business\u00a0world in Florida.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Tell the CEOs to cower under\u00a0their desk and not dare speak up\u00a0against anything that might be a\u00a0pet cause of the legislature or the\u00a0governor and that&#8217;s just wrong.\u00a0That kind of stifling of freedom\u00a0of speech by a corporation, by\u00a0an individual, is absolutely\u00a0wrong.\u00a0They&#8217;re doing it out of spite.\u00a0They&#8217;re not even bothering to\u00a0pretend that this is not\u00a0punitive action taken against a\u00a0corporation because of political\u00a0action.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;re not even bothering to\u00a0say differently.\u00a0And it is, it\u2019s bad for the\u00a0economy.\u00a0It&#8217;s bad for the business\u00a0sector and I think it&#8217;s just completely\u00a0anathema against Republican traditional\u00a0values and also let me remind\u00a0you that Walt Disney World has\u00a0been one of the biggest\u00a0political donors to Republican\u00a0legislators and the Republican\u00a0governor and the Republican\u00a0Party of Florida for decades and\u00a0decades and decades.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I have gone to countless events\u00a0in Disney World Parks and in Disney hotels held\u00a0by the Republican Party of Florida,\u00a0raising money for them.\u00a0So I&#8217;d like to know if the\u00a0Republican Party of Florida is\u00a0going to return all of those\u00a0donations from Walt Disney World.\u00a0I&#8217;d like to know&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>APRIL RYAN: But you know what?<\/p>\n<p>NAVARRO: &#8211;what the\u00a0business sector is going to do\u00a0to stand in solidarity with\u00a0Disney World so they are not all\u00a0silenced and being stifled by\u2014by\u2014by&#8211; a\u00a0legislature and governor that have, you know, just gone insane with their pettiness.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, Floridians can&#8217;t get home insurance.\u00a0In the meantime, they haven&#8217;t\u00a0done a damn thing to reform\u00a0condo laws so that condo\u00a0buildings don&#8217;t collapse in the\u00a0middle of the night, killing and trapping people inside.\u00a0So, it\u2019s irresponsible. it is just craziness, absolute craziness.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The only thing CNN Newsroom host Jim Acosta and former nominal Republican strategist Ana Navara know about cancel culture is that Republicans claim to be against it.
