The order will apply to all passengers above the age of two \u201cregardless of their COVID-19 vaccination status.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>L.A. County is America\u2019s most populous county, with more than ten million residents.<\/p>\n<p><span>The developments from Los Angeles County come days after U.S. District Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-federal-judge-in-florida-voids-bidens-national-mask-mandate-at-airports-planes-public-transit\"><span>ruled<\/span><\/a><span> that the federal travel mask mandate was unlawful because it \u201cexceeded the CDC\u2019s statutory authority, improperly invoked the good cause exception to notice and comment rulemaking, and failed to adequately explain its decisions.\u201d Major <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/major-u-s-airlines-each-reveal-if-they-will-continue-to-enforce-bidens-mask-mandate\"><span>airlines<\/span><\/a><span> subsequently revoked their mask mandates, alongside <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/amtrak-removes-mask-mandate-for-passengers-employees\"><span>Amtrak<\/span><\/a><span> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/uber-lyft-drop-mask-mandates-for-riders-and-passengers\"><span>ridesharing<\/span><\/a><span> companies Uber and Lyft.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In response to the ruling, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-cdc-tells-doj-to-pursue-appealing-ruling-that-voided-bidens-national-mask-mandate\"><span>asked<\/span><\/a><span> that the U.S. Department of Justice proceed with its appeal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cTo protect CDC\u2019s public health authority beyond the ongoing assessment announced last week, CDC has asked DOJ to proceed with an appeal in <\/span><i><span>Health Freedom Defense Fund, Inc., et al., v. Biden, et al.<\/span><\/i><span>,\u201d the statement reads. \u201cIt is CDC\u2019s continuing assessment that at this time an order requiring masking in the indoor transportation corridor remains necessary for the public health. CDC will continue to monitor public health conditions to determine whether such an order remains necessary. CDC believes this is a lawful order, well within CDC\u2019s legal authority to protect public health.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The statement from the CDC followed the DOJ <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-biden-admin-to-appeal-court-decision-that-ruled-mask-mandate-on-airplanes-was-unlawful\"><span>saying<\/span><\/a><span> in a statement on Tuesday that it disagrees with the court\u2019s ruling and that it would file an appeal if the CDC said that masks were still needed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe Department continues to believe that the order requiring masking in the transportation corridor is a valid exercise of the authority Congress has given CDC to protect the public health,\u201d the DOJ said. \u201cIf CDC concludes that a mandatory order remains necessary for the public\u2019s health after that assessment, the Department of Justice will appeal the district court\u2019s decision.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>On Thursday, Dr. Anthony Fauci <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/fauci-suggests-judge-did-not-have-authority-to-overturn-mask-mandate\"><span>said<\/span><\/a><span> that he was \u201cboth surprised and disappointed\u201d by the ruling \u201cbecause those types of things really are the purview of the CDC.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIf you look at the rationale for that, it really is not particularly firm, and we are concerned about that, about courts getting involved in things that are unequivocally a public health decision,\u201d Fauci continued during a CNN+ interview. \u201cThis is a CDC issue, should not have been a court issue.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies for breaking news, investigative reporting, sports, podcasts, in-depth analysis, books, and entertainment for a reason: because we believe in what we do.
