Several other players and coaches from both teams who ran onto the field\u00a0drew two-game suspensions, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/general\/news\/texas-juco-pitcher-kicked-off-team-after-tackling-opposing-player-following-home-run\/\">CBS Sports.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Then Weatherford College took it a step further, saying Owens is \u201cno longer with the team.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWC Head Baseball Coach Jeff Lightfoot said the player is no longer with the team,\u201d Weatherford College Athletics <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WCCoyotes\/status\/1517307577348022276?s=20&#038;t=yRAvyQMTt-T_GmmH2iWg-g\"><span>posted<\/span><\/a><span> to Twitter. \u201cThe Weatherford College Student Services handed down additional discipline to the student, but because of college policy and federal regulations protecting student privacy, WC will not be releasing the details of any other discipline.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Lightfoot had said the team was \u201cshocked and disappointed\u201d at Owens display.<\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWe do not condone this type of behavior,\u201d he said. \u201cWe have worked hard to build a program with the highest of standards. We are completely embarrassed by this incident, and we apologize to North Central Texas College and the fans of WC baseball. This type of behavior cannot be tolerated.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>NCTC released a statement, thanking the Weatherford administration for its \u201cintegrity\u201d in handling the situation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cNorth Central Texas College supports its student athletes and the various athletic programs available at the College,\u201d NCTC Chancellor Brent Wallace <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nctc.edu\/news\/nctc-official-statement-april20\"><span>said<\/span><\/a><span>. \u201cNCTC expects our student athletes to exhibit the highest levels of sportsmanship both on and off the field. The unfortunate events at Weatherford College will be used as a teaching moment for our student athletes to help ensure these incidents do not occur in the future. We appreciate the integrity of the Weatherford Administration in communicating with NCTC and will be working in conjunction with them to determine the full extent of this event.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The incident happened in the first game of a four-game series, with games two and three being ruled a forfeit for NCTC due to the team not being able to field enough players.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i>Joe Morgan is the Sports Reporter for The Daily Wire.
